Hey everyone! I saw there were a lot of sad faces for those people who can't attend the New York Line Party so I'm glad we can finally announce what TolkienGateway.net and TolkienLibrary.com have been working for what seems like forever. We'll be holding "The Children of Hurin Release Party" on irc.tolkiengateway.net from April 15th-17th. We've managed to get a bunch of guest speakers including Matt Blessing who manages the Tolkien Collection at Marquette University, as well as David Brawn, who manages all the Tolkien affairs for HarperCollins, among about a dozen other Tolkien authors and artists. We're also planning on giving away upwards of 30 prizes including 3 Deluxe editions of The Children of Hurin signed by Alan Lee and Christopher Tolkien, see, we non-NYers still have a chance :) More information Enter the contest Is there anything you guys would like to see happen at the chat? Any prizes you would love to have, guests you would love to see? We're still adding a lot more prizes/guests so the list on Tolkien Gateway is by no means final. Hope to see you all there!

Barnes & Noble is selling the regular editions with the bookplate. We will be giving away the Deluxe editions with the bookplate.

Whoops, I suppose this would help: To enter the contest, the code is "Hurin" and the answer is "signed" :) only a minor detail.

Cripes, I wish I could be there! I've never been to a line party, and this will be such a wonderful celebration :D Thank you for letting us know about this! *twitch* I just looked through your list of guests and am amazed at the diversity. Of course, so many people have been deeply involved with Tolkien's works and world, I imagine they'd be SO excited at the prospect of a party being held in celebration of this book finally being brought to life :) You may also want to consider inviting Colleen Doran (artist). She's been very active at ORC (One Ring Celebration) and is a wonderful speaker, wonderful Tolkien artist, and funnier than anything! She's a delight. One more name of those who will be participating needs to be added... mine ;) Thanks again for this!!!

I've looked at the "Release Party" site and can't see a schedule of when each, er, "speaker" will be online. Is there a schedule yet? I won't be able to "attend" most of the time those days, but would like to peek in. Thanks. a.s.

Some say that they're coming back in a garden, bunch of carrots and little sweet peas. I think I'll just let the mystery be. ~~~~Iris DeMent

The schedule isn't set yet, just receiving ayes and nays and maybes as of now. Once we have a better idea of who is coming and when they will be available, the schedule will be set up, but remember that it isn't set in stone. Schedules are guides and can and may be changed as availability of times could change with the guests.

As it is mainly my task to set the schedule, i may say that it is almost completed. Having to put names like David Brawn, James Dunning, Jef Murray, Johan Vanhecke, John Garth, Mark T. Hooker, Matt Blessing, Michael Drout, Michaël Duveaux, Nils Ivar Agřy, Roger Garland, Verlyn Flieger,... in one schedule is a huge task. Especially because all come from different timezones. Yet, it will be ready real soon! Keep an eye on this page. There is also all the info on the event. For people wanting to download banners or even wallpapers here you can do so. Hope to see you all at the Children of Hurin Release Party!
