Who's going to Comic-Con 2008? Can't Post

Hey all, TORn will be there - in some capacity. Who's going to Comic-Con 2008, July 23-27th San Diego CA?

Me, but you already knew that. [In reply to] Can't Post

Cool I'm already looking forward to the insanity that is the San Diego Comic Con, all the free swag they give out, and (most importantly) hanging out with some cool TORn folks.

We'll be there. [In reply to] Can't Post

Are the upcoming happenings a secret or is it just details still being hammered out?
Seems like the SDCC site's special guest/event page hasn't been updated in a long time.

We're having a moot, right? [In reply to] Can't Post

I'll be there from Fri-Sun.

If we are having a moot, please make it so someone under 21 can attend! :)

FYI on Sideshow and Weta [In reply to] Can't Post

They are two different companies that no longer partner on LOTR stuff. Sideshow still does LOTR stuff, but not the same stuff they once did. Weta and Sideshow both have very impressive booths there, among the best on the entire floor.

Hope to make a day-trip this year [In reply to] Can't Post

I've had to miss Comic Con because of deadlines for the last couple of years, but this year I would very much like to make a day-trip out of it.
Its fun to go down there by train, very relaxing, then take one of the free shuttles and just soak up the wacky ambiance that is Comic Con.
If I do go, it will probably be Thursday the 24th. While Fri-Sat-Sun are usually packing the most intense and exciting guests, presentation, seminars, etc., (Saturday is the Masquerade, after all) those days also the most insanely crowded. The last time I was there it was so jammed full of bodies in the Dealers Room I experienced agoraphobia for the first time; when did everybody get so tall, anyway?!
But if I'm there on Thursday, I'll see if I can find TORn and say hi!

me!!! [In reply to] Can't Post

(wow it's been forever since I logged on...)

First time ever... I'll be following deej around scared out of my mind at the vast numbers of people! I'm used to Dragon*Con... and to think that ComicCon is twice that size... Crazy

Shuya - "I only have three nerd shirts and only get to wear them about twice a year"
Me - "Wow, I have a lot more than that. And I wear them all the time."
Deej - "You are such a bigger nerd than we are"

Still hoping to... [In reply to] Can't Post

There's just the small matter of an ocean and a continent between me and San Diego... I'm in Europe right now and won't 'officially' be back in the US until just before DCon; but I'm still hoping to find a cheap flight and make it over for ComicCon at the end of July. I just can't bear to think of all the cool free stuff I'll miss...

Oh, and I do want to see 'sibs, too! Wink

well... [In reply to] Can't Post

It depends on who you ask. Some say D*Con was pushing 50,000 people last year. So that means if Comic Con has 100,000 then it is twice the size. But if you go by "official" numbers, yeah. It is more like 3 times the size.

I might... [In reply to] Can't Post

Still not entirely sure... I went last year and met Liv Tyler, and I was kind of waiting to see if another LotR actor was going to sign up, but now I'm not sure if i can get tickets.

"O Elbereth! Gilthoniel!
We still remember, we who dwell
In this far land beneath the trees,
Thy starlight on the Western Seas."

"It was Sam's first view of a battle of Men against Men,and he did not like it much. He was glad that he could not see the dead face. He wondered what the man's name was and where he was from; and if he was really evil of heart, or what lies or threats had led him on the long march from his home; and if he would not really rather have stayed there in peace..."

"Many folk like to know beforehand what is to be set on the table; but those who have laboured to prepare the feast like to keep their secret; for wonder makes the words of praise louder."
