Bard Can't Post

How about Toby Stephens or Richard Armitage as Bard? What do you think?

Richard could work . . . [In reply to] Can't Post

I am not very familiar with him, but he seems like he could fit the part. Smile

"WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN"

Did you ever wish certain moments from LOTR could've made it to the screen? Have you ever imagined what would have happened if all of the original writings from the script actually made it to the films? Well, "What Could Have Been" is the right discussion for you! Starting this summer will be a series of topics about what could have been in "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy". Be on the lookout, and be sure to join in on the fun!

I'd watch Richard Armitage in anything [In reply to] Can't Post

Especially if he gets to use his normal accent. Like a dark-haired Sean Bean. Smile

Possibilities [In reply to] Can't Post

I admit all I've seen of Toby Stephens is his role as the villain in 007: Die Another Day. But I agree he'd be interesting as Bard. He seems like a good actor, and could definitely handle the action scenes. Richard Armitage would also be a great choice.

I think I'd most like to see a total unknown as Bard -- someone who has only done independent films, or who was a bit player in major films before. I'm hoping to be completely 'wowed' by someone I've never even heard of, as was the case with Viggo as Aragorn. If an established or "up-and-coming" actor is chosen, though . . . well, that is a tricky one. I like Clive Owen, Gerard Butler, Christian Bale, and Jim Caviezel -- I'd be happy with any of them in the role -- but all of them are a bit too well-known now. If 300 hadn't been made, or hadn't become as popular as it did, I'd probably pick Gerry Butler as my top choice.

Unknown would be cool. But Richard Armitage would be brilliant.

Nice choices [In reply to] Can't Post

I like your preference best. Gerard Butler is an excellent choice. I can totally see his "grimness" and the physical presence he would bring to the role. I don't even mind that he's not unknown, as he's not particularly famous just yet.

Good point [In reply to] Can't Post

Yeah, it's true that he isn't that well-known... Neither is Clive Owen, for that matter... I suppose either of them could fit the bill very well.

Richard Armitage [In reply to] Can't Post

seems right on the spot. He has all that Bard needs, grim looks, strength, character, he even talks in the right way lol, just give him a cape and some arrows. But then he might resemble Boromir too much...

I've got 2 choices in my mind. Henry Ian Cusick or Henry Cavill. [In reply to] Can't Post

Henry Ian Cusick is better known as Desmond Hume from Lost.

Henry Cavill is currently portraying Charles Brandon in the Tudors but has also been in Stardust (Humphrey) and Tristan + Isolde (Melot).

My choices anyway.
