*JINGLES KEYS & THROWS OPEN DOORS* It's time for FIESTA FRIDAY!!!!

Welcome to a Springy Fiesta! I've grabbed the bar towel and keys and stand perched at the bar ready to quench your thirst. There's also a buffet table right over there filled with salty and sweet goodies. So fill your plate, order a drink, and let's get this party going! Spring has FINALLY made it to many of us while Fall is moving in on others. I don't know about you, but I really love the change of seasons no matter where you're standing. There's nothing like watching the trees and flowers show us their own seasonal mark of TIME. What has this past week thrown at you? Do you have plans for the upcoming weekend and week? OH! And a HUGE ENCOURAGEMENT to go see the new flick, "Project Hail Mary"!!! It's a wonderful escape from everything going on. It's funny, fast-paced, heart-warming, and you'll tear up more than once. I loved it and plan to see it again. It's definitely a MUST SEE BIG SCREEN SHOW! One you'll regret not taking the time to experience at the theater. Seriously! GO! Here's a little spoiler whited out (highlight to read), but nothing that will spoil the show. You'll enjoy it more knowing… Both main characters are physically present both in performance and voice that results in many spontaneous interactions.

Greetings, gramma! May I have a mocha smoothie, please? Today we enjoyed a wonderful matinee stage production of The Sound of Music! I'd warned hubby that two of the songs would be new to those like him who had only seen the movie, and I was surprised that one of the other stage songs had been replaced by the movie song. But all actors were in fine voice, and it was just delightful! We had balcony seats, front row, and we could see all the "marks" on the floor. We arrived home just after the start of the UConn women's basketball game in the Sweet Sixteen. They got off to a very slow start, but did pick up the pace after half-time, and won handily. Go Huskies! Bits of green are poking up, but we're still getting freezing temps at night - sleep a bit longer, plants! I've been hearing about "Project Hail Mary", that it's a sort of space-scifi-mystery?

I can’t believe I actually got in here. I hate to see the boards have to change again, but technology marches on whether we like it or not. I love Spring, but I do not love Summer masquerading as Spring. 80F degree days in March in PA is intolerable. Thankfully, today isn’t one of them. It’s nice to see things starting to bloom and leaf-out again, but not nice to feel like we’re all wilting before it’s time. I’m taking a short break from my fiber arts this week. I’ve been….very productive, and need time to think and plan my next big project. Aaaand it wouldn’t post. Kept timing out.

What a perfect way to see a stage play :D That's one of my Mom's favourite flicks! And how cool that you got there early enough to catch the game! It's trying very hard to warm up here in Michigan. Next week is supposed to be in and around 70 degrees! Today I still needed my coat. A space-scifi-mystery? That's an interesting description that's not bad :) It'd throw eucatastrophe in the mix as well. It's very uplifting as events unfold. The story was written by Andy Weir who also wrote "The Martian". So if you like "The Martian" played by Matt Damon in the movie... you'll like this :)

How about a nice cup of hot chocolate to keep us in the sweet Spring mood? ;) Yeah, the changing boards makes me sigh; but I'm SO glad there's a way to keep the lights on around here! Oh man, a fiber art piece? If you can get a pic of it when you're done, I'd love to see it! I've got all sorts of supplies to do a piece myself; but it's all been sitting in boxes for about 5 years now waiting for me to come up for air and stop running around ;) Have a wonderful weekend, m'dear! How very great to see you! :D

The weather is playing ping-pong with the temperatures! We did indeed enjoy "The Martian", so that's an excellent recommendation, thank you! And have a relaxing weekend, gramma!

Great to see you again - and glad you managed to get on the Boards, they have been frustratingly wonky at times. A fiber art project! What did you create?

It has a nice story attached: https://thespinoff.co.nz/...gs-project-hail-mary I haven't seen the movie yet, but we both very much enjoyed the book, so may yet managed to go to the cinema (which we almost never do these days). We've had a couple of very warm for autumn (30C/86F) days, followed by a nasty storm with lots of flooding in parts of the country. Today's much calmer. I've made a sourdough loaf, and Mr Kimi has made pizza (including our homegrown capsicums in the topping. He made a delicious pear tart for a weekend dessert, and a feijoa cake, so we're still enjoying our garden bounty - even enough strawberries to have with breakfast. Soon enough we'll be putting the garden to bed (the tomatoes are coming to an end), but for now we're making the most of fresh produce, and filling the freezer. Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend (what remains of it).

Here's something for hubby and you :) I know the music throughout the film is great; but I didn't know about this. So Beautiful! Thank you for this article!!! I'm going to go see it again on Tuesday... so I'll especially drink this in. I know I'll get much more from it now that the awe is calmed down ;) I really hope you get to see this. The visuals and sound of the film are at maximum effectiveness (and wonderment) on the big screen. :) As often as I've seen LotR on my large-screen tv, I was still surprisingly moved (overwhelmed) when I saw them at the theater last month. I've just ordered the book, and the movie-goers around me made some comments about the book-to-film transition. Much like we still do for LotR ;) I'm so glad your garden gifts have been hanging in there for you to have such excellent eats! :D I hope it lasts a bit longer!

There's something very satisfying about the final harvests, and getting the winter's store put away. Pizza with tarts and cakes and homemade bread, I am in heaven imagining the aromas in your home! That's a nice story about the inclusion of a world-wide variety of music in the movie. I'll have to try to see the movie on the big screen.

AI stealing from "Bored of the Rings".

Off topic, and I don't think it deserves a whole thread of its own, but as you are one of this forum's leading devotees of Bored of the Rings, I thought you might appreciate this. (By the by, it's taken me six attempts to get this to post. The connection keeps timing out, but I'm not having trouble with any other sites today.) As noted in this Wikipedia article, in 2004 a writer named Andrea Bartz because the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit against the AI company Anthropic that alleged the firm was stealing from their works. A settlement was reached in September: the company would pay $1.5 billion, to be divided among all authors on a list of the stolen material, but the authors had to file a claim via a website set up specifically for this purpose. The site includes a search tool. The deadline to file a claim is today. I vaguely heard about this but had never looked into it, but I got curious about whether any Tolkien scholarship was on the list. In fact, several titles are on the list, and I hope the authors have filed claims, but amusingly, the first positive search result I got was for Bored of the Rings. Cha-ching?

It's a wonder that the AI didn't choke on Tim Benzedrine's poetry, but then, hopefully the text was able to infiltrate and mess up its system. I did poke around to see if this was an April Fool's joke, but sadly, it appears to be legitimate. Nice to see you on the Boards, NEB! Hopefully it won't be much longer that we have to put up with 'bots attacking the ageing servers.

you had the chance to appreciate it! It's a well-loved song here in Aotearoa, and that performance is particularly lovely.

The April 1st shenanigans on TORn have been pretty tame this year. I've only seen the one post on the homepage. I haven't checked out the twitter or Facebook posts though.
