Yes, there's a weird one going around, which is not a cold nor a flu nor Covid, it just nastily wipes you out for up to a week. Soup is the best!

Bummer on having to drive that far for a non-existent closing, but - it WILL happen, and all in good time.

Thank you for opening the bar yesterday, Annael! We've recently returned from a couple of days with family in Plymouth, Mass. All of hubby's sibs and spouses were gathered, and we ate and talked and ate and talked and ate some more and talked some more, and watched the town's Thanksgiving parade on TV and played silly games and put together a 300 piece puzzle. It was delightful and wonderful, they're awesome people.
I've never watched "Stranger Things", all I know is that it's supposed to be a very good show.
I think we have everything for a Thanksgiving dinner, just hubby and son and myself, we've already had a massive dinner at the church followed by the sibling get-together so we're ready for something low-key.
Will you be celebrating the day with friends or family?

After reading yours and Annael's descriptions of perfect cups of the decadent brew!
That was a long day at the hospital! Here's hoping the lung scan results are great, and that something shows up regarding the hearing and tinnitus problem, hopefully making it correctible. Do you know when they will know?
Non-profit Hospice organizations are the best. We'll never forget how good they were to my Dad in his final days.
So how was the bike ride, and where did you bike to?

We have a state highway through the city that, along one long section, has five schools - so it's a heavy traffic route that also has children aged five to 18 travelling along it every weekday. Safety improvements have included concrete separators along the cycle lanes, and a loud and determined subset of the community *went off*, angry that their cars are now hitting these low concrete barriers and causing damage. (Yes, 'their cars' are hitting them, not the drivers themselves who can't stay within the lane that they're meant to be in.)
So yesterday I rode that (long, hilly) route just to be another cyclist that's seen using the cycle lanes, countering the claim of 'ghost cyclists'. I definitely felt safer having a physical barrier between me and our admittedly pretty poor drivers.
After that, I detoured onto our Coastal Walkway (a shared pathway, despite the name) and had a lovely cycle alongside the sea.

Those bollards and the like just leap out and hit perfectly innocent motor vehicles that are being driven with perfectly normal levels of incompetence, lack of attention, and total overestimation of one's driving skill!
And worse still, The World Bollard Association seems to revel in their antics!
How long must we tollerate this before the AntiCa is proscribed as a terrorist organisation...
(etc. etc...., except it probably should have been mostly in capitals with lots of emojis. )
I had forgotten what an enjoyable waste of time the World Bollard Association social media accounts were

Overall, though, it's the bigness of the car that counts the most. Because when something bad happens in a really big car— accidentally speeding through the middle of a gang of unruly young people who have been taunting you in a drive-in restaurant, for instance-it happens very far away-way out at the end of your fenders. It's like a civil war in Africa; you know, it doesn't really concern you too much. On the other hand, when something happens in a little bitty car it happens right in your face. You get all inrolved in it and have to give everything a lot of thought. Driving around in a little bitty car is like being one of those sensitive girls who writes poetry. Life is just too much to bear. You end up staying a home in your bedroom and thinking up sonnets that don't get published till you die, which will be real soon if you keep driving aound in little bitty cars like that.

Back in the day when we were trying to convince Dad that at 92, he really should not be driving anymore, he drove my car when I was out of town once and to hear him tell it, a high curb just leapt out in front of the car! Ruined two of my tires, so he had to buy me a full set.
We only got him to stop driving when he had a stroke and went blind in one eye, at 94. He asked the eye doctor "does this mean I can't drive any more?" and the doc replied "YOU'RE STILL DRIVING??? NO!!!!"
But he insisted for the rest of his life that it was the curb's fault.

of "green light" for fibromyalgia, etc.? I just ran across a mention of it as effective for migraines (in Brain magazine, study done at Harvard, so . . .) and then found articles saying it works for fibromyalgia too. Only the lightbulb is expensive and you have to sit in the light for hours a day. Still . . .

I'm taking her to her acupuncture appt today (Tues), so I'll definitely send this article on to her! She's been using "natural light" lamps during the winter months for years to fight off depression and other malady from lack of sunlight. This would be something right up her alley :)

This same thing happened with my great-grandmother. She was driving me at the time and what was probably a 5x5 concrete median (which even managed to have a Yield sign embedded in it) simply materialized out of thin air and hit her car. Because of course, that's how that works. 
She blamed it on me, saying I was talking to her and that's why the curb hit her.

I ended up going to urgent care today, as the cough worsened a bit overnight and I wanted to play it safe and get it checked out. Negative for strep throat, Covid and the flu! The doctor didn't seem surprised and said there's a lot of stuff going around. I'm doing a short course of antibiotics and steroids, so fingers crossed this thing starts to fade away in the next couple of days.
Thanks, and enjoy your small Thanksgiving! We have our big 20+ person one with both sides of my girlfriend's family.
