a likely inspiration for Hobbiton?

Linked to the story featured in Ataahua's post about the auction of an original print run edition of The Hobbit, there's now this: https://www.bbc.co.uk/...rticles/cjdyz2jj2j2o Some residents of Gedling, these days a suburb of Nottingham, are convinced that Tolkien's vision of Hobbiton, as he illustrated in The Hobbit, was inspired by a road in their neck of the woods - Arnold Lane. The revelation was prompted by said residents having seen a TV news story about the first edition, which apparently flashed the classic picture of Hobbiton on screen. I hadn't clocked previously that Tolkien's aunt had a farm on Arnold Lane and that he'd visited. John Garth is wheeled out to opine as well.

It's always been known that Tolkien's Middle-earth... especially the Shire... was inspired by his own world where he walked, lived, and shared his family throughout his life. This is very much, imho, another example (proof) that this is true! THANK YOU! :D
