Happy Friday! It's Fiesta time!!

Greetings, everyone! Come on in and celebrate another Fiesta Friday with us! It' been another busy week for me of client work and getting more estimates for house stuff. In fact, I'm posting a tad bit late because I was just doing the rounds of the outside of the house with a painter. Home projects grow like a snowball rolling downhill once you get outside and start looking at things. It's like cleaning one spot on something, then realizing the whole thing needs it, lol. No sport for us this weekend (off weeks for our teams), so I'll be pulling late season weeds (yep, noticed those too while out with the painter), and recycling or shredding old papers. How about you? Let us know how things are going while you order up a drinkie, and pile your plate high at the buffet. *puts quarters on juke box* song please! And, have a fabulous weekend!

https://www.sciencedaily.com/.../08/250829022840.htm Perhaps he can climb up and inspect your roof. Good luck with your home improvement! Such fun, but you never know what will happen. We had someone paint the bedroom a couple of years ago, and carefully selected the paint, I thought, but somehow the paint store got it mixed up and switched it to the darker color, and when we came home, the painter had the bedroom 2/3 finished. I contemplated having him switch, but the darker color ended up being so gorgeous that we went with it, and although I had to modify my window treatments a bit, I'm still extremely happy with the serendipity.

That pretty much says it all right there. Very interesting article. I wonder how many more one-of-a-kind discoveries are sitting in jars or boxes gathering dust somewhere. What a great result to your painting 'mishap.' Glad it worked out, VERY nice to see you, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I can't tell what's in that 3rd frame. Maybe it was too fast for me to see?

I've returned home after my last radiotherapy treatment yesterday - 12 days in Palmerston North (except for last weekend when I returned home to watch my rugby team lose the Ranfurly Shield to Waikato yet again *sob*). It's a relief to be back home for good. They've got a great set-up in Palmy - Ozanam House is like a home away from home for patients, albeit as a high-quality boarding situation with new people coming every few days - but it's never as good as actual home. It feels odd, really; as if I stepped out of my life for a fortnight and have now stepped back into it, with my routine unchanged. It's been a strange and challenging time, but made as easy as possible by the wonderful people down there. Unfortunately I came back with a cold so I'm rather under the weather. I plan to make chicken and vegetable soup to help chase the greeblies away. Meanwhile, after last week's gorgeous, near summer-like weather, we've moved into the tempestuous part of the calendar: squalls, thunderstorms, and snow down south. Yay spring!

You've certainly been busy, Altaira! Yes, that does happen when starting a project - you delve into it, and suddenly there's more that needs being done! Could I have just an iced tea, please? I've just returned from meeting friends for lunch at a pub. I had a "moo shu taco" - pulled pork, slaw, and spicy peanut sauce. Tasty, but almost too spicy for me. It was worth a try, though! There's tag sales all over the town this weekend, as the summer residents clean out their houses and prepare to close them up for the season. We have a huge vendor tag sale on the grounds of the local historic house (built around 1660), and I'll be helping out in our Historical Society's barn full of donated items. Hopefully I'll recognize what the things are; last year we had an odd-shaped piece of pottery which none of us could identify, but someone bought it anyway! Don't you think he'd make a great pet?
You certainly lucked out with that paint job! I always have a bit of trepidation when getting paints, that I've not picked out what I really wanted, or that it will mis-tint when they're mixing it!

Wonderful news, and well done you!! It must be a relief to have that over and done with. Bummer about the cold, but it gives you a good excuse to pamper yourself silly all weekend (as if you need an excuse ). Take good care and enjoy the balmy Spring weather (hehe)

So good to have that all over with! And did they release you with the best of news? I understand that chicken soup, especially the home-made kind, is a proven remedy for the common cold. Remember the turmeric and ginger, I've heard those are necessary! Snow? Already? Just on the mountaintops, I hope!

Too funny about the odd-shaped pottery. I wonder what that person is using it for. Sounds like you have a busy, but fun, weekend planned, and started it out right with lunch, friends, and a pub. Enjoy the rest of it!

adapting to that particular type of new pet; and although he might have the edge with speed and agility, I think there might be some safety issues. Yeah, very lucky about the color! I was so taken a back at first, I didn't realize how gorgeous it looked with my blue Monet lake and fluffy tree framed poster, and my blue and white swiss-dotted curtains. Even two years later, sometimes when I come in my room, I think I'm looking at a museum mount.

on my way to SoCal for the weekend; giving a talk at a conference. They have now changed our gate three times but we're no longer leaving late like we were going to be at Gate #2 (???). I managed to leave my jacket at home; there's always something - but I did throw a light scarf in so I should be okay in the evenings. An iced decaf coffee would hit the spot! Happy news: one good friend came through her hip replacement surgery with flying colors, and another good friend had a melanoma removed today and did NOT need a skin graft and they think they got it all.

i hope that's the last of that. I rather like the unsettled weather as we switch seasons. We're supposed to get thunderstorms next week. A bit scary as we're still in fire season but hopefully with a lot rain.

For your friends, and for you getting your flight settled! And no worries about leaving the jacket, I understand that SoCal is having a heat wave now... Best of luck with the talk, and have a blast at the conference!

to check how effective the radiation has been. It's still working its magic for the next few weeks. One or two mountain passes were closed yesterday so it sounds like a decent amount fell in some places. This is why I get anxious about visitors coming to NZ in spring for tramping/trekking: snowfall (or just storms in general) are common around now and can catch out the unwary.

into Dr. Bruce Banner, since it's already green. (Yeah, I know, wrong transformer scenario.) It certainly does look like one of those transformer toys with which we were inundated when my son was young. I even had students bringing them to violin lessons and demonstrating the capabilities thereof, before they were willing to get started with their "actual" instrument.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grumman_X-29 Only two were made and both went on display after production was cancelled. The technical explanations here for scrapping it are waaaaay beyond me, but flaming streaking Stewards were not involved, it seems.

plane at Edwards AFB, summer of '86, taxiing in from a test flight. It's the X-29, an experiment in forward swept wings. The theory was that the wing shape would give excellent maneuverability combined with high speed. That configuration puts a lot of structural stress on the wings, more than most metals can handle, so it was an early test of carbon fiber composite materials. NASA and USAF gained a lot of valuable data from the test flights back then. If they're scrapping it, that's probably because it's over 40 years old and not worth the expense of maintaining it any more.
