I'm going to get myself used to enjoying not having to travel to work! This is the Nickerson Family Association on Cape Cod. They've got a walking tour of Barnstable Village, a cookout, and a couple of historical speakers planned among other things. I've read the book written by one of them, short stories about the sea captains of Chatham.

close to the house that will be vulnerable. For example, at the front I have well-established fishbone cotoneaster spreading up the walls around the windows to head height, threaded through with periwinkle. That's going to have to be taken down to knee height, which will be a shock to it! I hope it survives. There's a very prickly pink rose 'Harlow Carr' near the back wall; perhaps we can tie bubble wrap around it!

Did you manage to get the laundry off the line in time? A happy Bloomsday to you, I can just imagine how many happy memories of that trip this day brings back to you!

You rose above the obstacles and frustrations and did a great job - and that was actually recognised! What a relief all round. Speaking of relief - best of luck with the plumbing issues. I hope the dinner went well.

It got an extra rinse - quite a thorough one. Mostly dry now, though (I'm finishing off some towels by the fire - much colder today). Yes, Ireland was a magical place to visit, and Dublin is a lovely city.

I did indeed know that young Master Sil got married! How is that possible? Time flies, eh? But the Fellowship remains true. So many happy Moots over the years... Perhaps there shall be chances for more... Cheers to you, dernwyn!

I haven't managed to get usable figs from it (yet), in part because I think some squirrels or other animals get to them first. Next time they're ripe, I hope!

does well - much better some seasons than others, though. We don't have squirrels in Aotearoa, but birds are very keen on the figs, so we net the tree at fruiting time.

We have quite a few birds that come and go, so I'm sure they're getting some snacks in addition to the squirrels.

Have you had a CLOSED SCHOOL surprise with the extreme heat? Figures it would happen when you're using vacation days! *shakes head* Are you guys getting hit with the heat dome? I had 94 in the shade on Wednesday. Overnight we had a mild rain and awoke to 70 degrees with a high of 84. There's a spittle of rain this afternoon, but the breeze is comfortable and out of the northeast. I'll send this sweet weather along to you asap :)
We have been there and back again. TIME Google Calendar

Wow, that must have been a record temp for your area! Have you been able to keep comfortable? We haven't gotten into the 90s - yet, as we're close enough to the shoreline. Some of that rain is indeed headed our way tomorrow evening, thank you! The cooling units on the roof of the section of the school I'm in are nearly dead, so new ones were supposed to have been delivered yesterday - until an architect realized the new ones would not fit. So it was hot in there today, fortunately a fan in my workroom kept that tolerable! But I'm off now until next Wednesday...three more days then, and I've a list of exactly what needs to be done each day. I've already handed off some of my duties to others, and done a lot of tossing and organizing. Today I brought my plants home, a bowl of babies from an Aloe my dad had. I think I'll give them some fresh cactus soil and a new bowl tomorrow.
