I did pretty well until the late afternoon, when my gym sent out an email announcing a new line-up of workout classes including goat yoga. I got excited for about ten minutes, and then remembered what day it was. Curious to know if others fell for anything and what it was.

I saw no April Fools events at all, except the backward topic titles here on these forums. Nothing else at all. My guess was that it's just not funny times.

April Fool's was a disappointingly barren field this year.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. Fantasy novel - The Arcanist's Tattoo My LOTR fan-fiction

I'd never fall for something silly like goat yoga, but I take sheep yoga very seriously. //

put up a thing about how the Washington Monument changes color a third of the way up because during WWII, the entire monument got lowered into the ground that much so planes could fly overhead. At least two people I know fell for it, while another person very seriously explained to all of us why that could not be so.

Whilst surfing the web that day I happened upon a story from Purgatory ski area in SW Colorado about the newest member of their ski patrol - Scout, the rescue cat.
The article also has a cute 'interview' with Scout here. I love the one about the Washington Monument. Very clever. I also saw a pretty good one about how Taco Bell purchased the Liberty Bell and it will now be called the Taco Liberty Bell. *groan* One of my favorites of all time was a story on NPR years ago about how Starbucks was planning to streamline delivery of coffee beans to its many locations by repurposing a vast network of existing but unused oil and gas pipelines, creating a slurry of coffee beans across the U.S.. Another good one they did was about how the Boston Celtics were changing the pronunciation of their team name to pronounce the C like a K, despite fan uproar.

had a local publican interviewed live on morning radio that his beer vats had burst and the beer was running down the steps, and rather than see it go to waste he'd be happy for people to turn up with their own containers to take some away for free. And people did turn up.

Not fooled, but definitely tempted by TORN's new food truck!

Here down under it was Tolkien Taco Tuesday, so when Celeborn pulled in at lunchtime I indulged in a double order - with a mug of root beer (Ho! Ho! Ho!) and let the clouds go sailing by! I had to pass, though, on the One-ion Rings, which were one of of my teenage food favorites, a must have at a drive-thru on Friday nights with whichever friend whose parents let us have a car, the radio playing the newest hits of the 60's and 70's - (not on an oldies-but-goodies station. ). Aw, but I wax nostalgic. Times have changed, and when I made a second visit to TORN's truck for supper, the Amon Hen on its hill of green vegetables was more suitable for the less robust digestive system of current me - after four tacos, anyway. My grownup self did wish that the Salmon Frodo came with noodles rather than nasty taters, Precious, but pasta would have been inappropriate to the theme, I guess? Dessert was an indelicate business of smashing the Barad-dûr Croak 'em bouche from top to bottom and then eating it whole. Most satisfying, if I'm honest. For variety and the yummy mouth feel of the cream-filled puns, I'll be giving 'Middle-earth on Wheels' a 9 out of 10 (1 point off for the taters).
