Moria™ – The Long Dark, an epic campaign expansion delving into the depths of Khazad-dûm for the award-winning second edition of The One Ring™ roleplaying game based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, is coming to Kickstarter on August 29. This expansion will also be published in a version for the 5E edition The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying, under the title Moria™ – Shadow of Khazad-dûm.

All backers who pledge within the first 24 hours will receive a bonus item soon to be revealed. If fully funded, the crowdfunding campaign offers early PDF access to the expansion well before its retail release planned for early next year.

Kickstarter delay! The Kickstarter for Moria™ – Through the Doors of Durin, the Moria expansion for The One Ring™ and The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying, will not go live at 3pm CEST today as planned, as we have an unexpected last-minute delay. We hope to have it resolved quickly and we will announce a new launch time as soon as we can.

I have to admit I'm always puzzled by the interest in Gondor. What makes Middle-earth most appealing to me is the sense of small towns and villages separated by tracts of dangerous wilds and strewn with the ruins and relics of ancient history.

Bustling cities and verdant farmlands and an organized military? Not so much.

Because Gondor is relatively civilized it is a terrific location for adventures/campaigns that focus more on intrigues and plots. Plus, it would have its own share of smaller towns and villages that are not detailed on the standard maps of Middle-earth. It also has its own wild coast in the form of the Cape of Andrast (possibly home to more of the Drúedain, kin of the Woses dwelling in the Druadan Forst). The White Mountains are as well largely unexplored by most games and have their own potential for adventure. The same can be said of the border region of Harondor where the Harad Road provides a doorway to the South. There is also the addition of new Sanctuaries and Patrons in Minas Tirith, Pelargir (traders, pirates and spies, oh my!), Dol Amroth, etc.

Plus, a detailed, expanded map of Gondor would look great on my wall!

With just a few hours left of the Kickstarter, the final stretch goal is unlocked! We will describe the journeys of Gandalf and Aragorn through Moria - and how your player heroes might have accompanied them.

Also, as a final bonus reward, and on popular request, we have decided to share the Peoples of Wilderland PDF with all backers in this Kickstarter. This PDF was a stretch goal in the previous Kickstarter, but has not been available since. We will also make a 5e conversion of this PDF.

With just a few short hours left of this incredible journey into the deeps of Moria, all we can say is thank you for your incredible support and faith in our work!

The Moria expansion for The One Ring has been a long time coming, and being the custodian for it through this Kickstarter for the last two weeks has been an honor and privilege. Due to the fantastic support of all 13,008 backers, this expansion will now finally become reality. Thank you!

Much work remains, but a very rewarding one, and we cannot wait to share the full PDF of the book with you as soon as we are able, so you can give your feedback on it before it goes to print. It will take a bit of time however, especially with so many unlocked stretch goals, so we ask for your patience at this time.

Soon, we will also open the Pledge Manager, where you will be able to enter your address, settle the shipping an add additional add-ons if you would like to.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. We're working hard to finish the final bits of the Alpha PDF, and it's taking a little longer than planned. Now, the PDF is finally in the hands of our licensor, so hopefully we'll be able to share it with you in a few weeks.

These delays to make it unlikely that we'll be able to ship the final printed compendia to you in May as initially estimated – there will probably be a delay of a month or two. As you know, there are many moving parts in a big Kickstarter project and it's difficult to set a definite delivery date during the Kikcstarter (that's why is only an estimate!). We are sorry about this, and will do all we can to make the delay as short as possible.

While you wait, you might want to take a look at a few spreads from the Alpha below. These are not fully finalized, but should hopefully not change to much from the final result.

PS. We have also gotten some questions about when the Pledge Manager will close. We have not yet set a date for this, and it will likely remain open for another 2-3 months.

We just wanted to let you know that we just received two sample copies of Moria™ – Through the Doors of Durin here at the office, one each of the Standard and Collector's Editions! Check out the video below. Please note that these samples didn't include the separate maps that will come with each volume.

The compendia are being printed right now, and will then ship out to our fulfillment warehouses in the US, UK, EU and Australia, and from there to you, dear backer! We expect to be able to start fulfillment no later than July.

Moria™ – Through the Doors of Durin is starting to arrive at our fulfillment warehouses across the world now, and we hope to start fulfillment in the next few weeks. Exactly when fulfillment starts depends on where in the world you are, and can vary, so please be patient. :)

As we are nearing fulfillment, we now need to close the pledge manager - this will happen on Monday June 3, so if you did not yet complete your order, please log in to your pledge manager and do so now. If you miss the deadline, you will still get your rewards, but your order risks being delayed.

Note for backers in Australia and New Zealand: When we opened the pledge manager, we planned AU/NZ fulfillment to be shipped from the UK, and set the shipping costs accordingly (we always charge exactly what the warehouse charges us). However, during the spring we have set up a local fulfillment center in Australia, and we will be fulfilling your orders from there. Thus, the shipping costs should be lower for you. We have remedied this in the Pledge Manager now. If you already paid (the higher) shipping, you will now see a credit on your order. You can use this credit for additional upgrades or add-ons (even if your order was completed), or get it as a refund. If you want it as a refund, please contact support@frialigan.se and we will take care of it. This may take a little time to process, so please bear with us.

As you might have seen, Moria™ – Through the Doors of Durin and Moria – Shadow of Khazad-dûm™ have now started to ship to backers from our fulfillment warehouses. Here is the current shipping status, by region:

US, EU and UK (including the rest of the world except CA, AU and NZ): Fulfillment is starting and is expected to be completed in the next 2-3 weeks.

CA: The stock is expected to arrive in the next few days and then fulfillment will commence.

AU and NZ: The shipment to Australia has been delayed due to international shipping troubles, and we expect it to arrive at the end of July. This means fulfillment will likely slip into August, but please note that orders to retailers in AU/NZ will also be delayed.

Later today, a pre-order for the Moria expansions will open in our webshop. Please note that no pre-orders will ship before backer rewards from the same warehouse.

The fulfillment of Moria™ – Through the Doors of Durin and Moria – Shadow of Khazad-dûm™ was completed some time ago at most of our fulfillment centers, but as mentioned before, we have had trouble with the shipment to our Australia hub.

The stock is now in and fulfillment was just completed, but it turned out we have another problem - there was not enough stock of some add-on items. Exactly why this happened is something we are trying to figure out, to avoid it happening again in the future. We're very sorry about this.

If you are in AU or NZ and receive an order with missing items, you as a default will be refunded for these items. If you would rather wait for the missing items to be restocked, please contact support@frialigan.se, but please note that it can take 2-3 months.
