Will Fili and Kili *possible spoiler*

die in Lake Town when either the orcs or Smaug attack? Just a sudden thought to explain why PJ has split some of the dwarves off from the main party. The only other reason is to give Kili and Tauriel flirting time which I fancy even less.

There are three deaths in the book (apart from Smaug) and the trouble is, they all happen at the same time in the same place. In LotR, I liked the way, both in the book and the film, that the deaths are spread out through the story: Gandalf (apparently), Boromir, Haldir, Theoden's son, Theoden: they all get their special moment.

If Thorin, Fili and Kili (and Tauriel and even Radagast) all die in a squashed up moment towards the end of the film, does that take the power away from their moments? And if PJ did do this to F&K, do you think it would be a good or a bad thing?

There are some promo pictures of Kili and Fili sporting some kind of armour (BoFA armour perhaps), and I believe both actors were in the pick-up shootings of the BoFA. But things may change, so I'm not totally sure.

Kili and Fili don't die in Lake Town. They leave Lake Town and go the mountain. Thorin and Kili at least have some scenes in the third movie that are supposed to be kind of emotional. Richard mentioned scenes in the third movie with Aidan during an interview for AUJ last December. They fight in the Battle of the Five Armies, I believe both of them have mentioned it.

More likely than not Kili and Fili will get their moment and then Thorin will get his big moment afterwards, it's not literally going to be all at the same time.

I think it would be a bad idea to kill Kili, Fili or both BEFORE BOFA. There is no reason for them to be killed off early just so Thorin can have BOFA to himself. Pretty sure it's going to be a huge, long lasting battle and they can all have their moments.

Perhaps to try and get room for more character development. With smaller groups there is more room to have meaningful interactions.

By leaving Kili, Fili, Bofur and Oin in Laketown for a while it kind of kills a couple birds with one stone. Not only will we get to know those four dwarves better(and on the flip side, the dwarves going to Erebor as well), but it'll give us an insight into Laketown and Bard's family and even the elves, with the excuse of Kili's injury for the temporary separation. In LOTR, we often got to know the various cultures better by virtue of having someone from the Fellowship present with them once the Fellowship went their separate ways.

The Hobbit didn't have this situation built in, so Jackson created it, rather than just throwing the audience back and forth from the dwarves we know to a bunch of new characters we really don't. Now we'll have a reason to "go back to Laketown" to see what's going on their, what's going on with Bard, etc.

It also helps give some foundation to something that was hinted at in the book which is that some of the dwarves did not necessarily agree with Thorin's attitude and Kili and Fili were specifically mentioned as being among them(though Tolkien doesn't make it sound like it was something that was discussed, in the movie I'm sure it will be).

...about the Dwarf casting and the line of Durin's folk, it's going to be a very emotional moment in the B05A. They've made Fili and Kili so likable which is going to be a very sad moment as it needs to be shown, the brothers dying while defending their Uncle in battle and not some meaningless death at Esgaroth from the wrath of one Dragon.
 
In the new banner. And that has clearly been photoshopped to include them all on there. They have probably done that, otherwise all 13 Dwarves would not feature on the poster (just like the picture of them climbing up the hill in the AUJ banner).

In the trailer, we only see a handful of them climbing up the statue.

It's been confirmed the Company will be split in the recent EMPIRE article, so I'm not sure why people are still saying the Dwarves do not get split up.

This isn't a still from the original vlog back before AUJ was released where there were ruins about but it's from the EE. This is Kili, Fili, Oin and Bofur dressed as they would be after Laketown(and presumably on their way to Erebor). Actually given the context of what they were saying, even if it was joking, I almost think this must be when they are actually reaching Erebor for the first time, perhaps ready to go in. I know this was already pretty much settled but when I came across this today, I figured I'd post it..

I can't remember where, there is so much footage and I didn't watch it exactly in order. I've seen the gif on tumble a bunch of times though. :)
 
Many thanks for linking to the photo though. I was dying to see what Kili and Fili wear after Laketown!!! [:)]
