Where are you from?

At the risk of crashing the website I thought it would be nice to discuss where everyone is from.

Myself-Hampshire, England.

What about you? Is Tolkien fandom common where you live?

but have lived around Indianapolis, IN (USA) for 20 years. This is where I met my lovely wife. [heart]

This place has changed (for the better) so much while I have lived here. As a sports fan, there are plenty of things to do and see. One really needs to experience seeing the main straightaway at IMS on Race Day in person at least once in their life. It is so cool. [cool]

Tolkien fandom is VERY common. The LOTR movies were a smashing hit here, millions of people watched them (in a country with just 9 million inhabitants). Almost everyone have read the books, and if they havent, they for sure know what it's about. No matter how TH will perform in America or Southern Europe, One thing I am 100% certain of: The Hobbit will be immensely popular in all of Scandinavia.

Here, LOTR and TH is more popular than super-heroes, and not the other way around [:)]

Not only are there lots of Tolkien fans here, there are lots of TORnsibs here. There are (that I know of) in the Twin Cities metro area 5 active (or active in the past - or lurkers) TORn message board members.

but I am from Los Angeles, California, originally. I have lived in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Minnesota, and South Dakota. I moved to Ohio because it is so green and, in my rural county, there aren't lots of people.

born in Seattle, Washington state, USA; apart from a year in Oregon and three in Idaho, I've lived within 60 miles of my birthplace all my life. Now I live at the tip of the Olympic Peninsula, just a few miles from Elberbeth - on a clear day I can see the island she lives on. Lots of Tolkien fans here.

and lived the first half of my life along the eastern seaboard of the U.S., but living now in San Diego (Carlsbad) since 1996.

And despite my location I'm extraordinarily unsuccessful at acquiring ComicCon tickets, I might add. *sigh*

There's a Tolkien Society in Denver, but I don't belong to it. I do meet up with a few Colordo TORn folks from time to time, which is always delightful.

Born there, grown up in a more rural town and moved here because I work in Eindhoven, which is about 10km away.

In The Netherlands there is a Tolkien society, Unquendor (literally low country, which is of course the translation of The Netherlands). They are very active, organising lots of fun and interesting events.
Close to me, friends, they tolerate me, but they aren't into it as I am.

I'm a born and bred Belfast girl, have lived here all my life. There's a good few Tolkien fans here, some will even openly admit to it [;)] !

Well, I have that in my profile since a while, so, and noticing my regular English, everybody must know that.
Anywayz here I am.

But... talking about my country right now is not a good idea...

Tolkien fandom is not big, but some of us are Tolkien fans, I don´t see them though... meh, not that good. I live in the world of reggaeton, salsa, perreo or whatever crap these people like.
