TV shows, too - I just finished season 2 of 'Supernatural' and now have a new favorite show. Now i've just got to wait for them to rerun season 3, or release it on dvd - i'm having Sam and Dean withdrawl already!

But I enjoyed it (again). And speaking of movies-from-the-80's-that-I'd-like-to-see-a-sequel-to: I could do with a sequel to Back the the Future as well. With the original cast, obviously. I always like the original three... But I guess it'll be a long shot...
 
I haven't had a lot of time lately for movies. But I've introduced a friend of mine to Buffy. So we watched several episodes of season four last Thursday. Then I've been re-watching some of six. Such as the brilliant episode that is "Once More with Feeling!". I love that episode!!

Been introducing Mum to the new Doctor Who. She used to watch the old series (when Tom Baker was Doctor) and so now she is getting a taste of the new series. We just finished season one and I hope to start season two tonight. (Yay for David Tennant!)

And then I've been watching season 4 of Doctor Who on YouTube cause I don't have cable. So that means I've been able to keep up with the episodes as the air in Britain. So I'm about 3 episodes ahead of those watching through SciFi. I won't give any spoilers for this last episode, "Turn Left" but I will say this... Catherine Tate is AMAZING as Donna. She carried that episode brilliantly. I'm so sad that BBC shows are only 13 episodes and that next week is the last one for this season!
 
Young (at) Heart - FIVE STARS! Everyone should go see this movie! It's about a choir, average age 80, who perform rock and punk songs by the likes of the Crash, Sonic Youth, Talking Heads, etc. The documentarians had the brillian idea of showcasing some of their songs as rock videos. We laughed until we cried and we cried until we laughed. Interviews with each of the choir members show the truth that "age doesn't matter if the matter doesn't age." My favorite was the 92-year-old lady who keeps making suggestive comments to the documentary crew - and then twinkles at them when they get embarrassed. (Although you can tell they are also falling in love.) Hilarious, poignant, and uplifting.

I'm also working my way through "Eureka." Although the premise is different, I'm reminded a bit of "Farscape" - the sheriff, like John Crichton, finds himself the only "normal human" in a town of geniuses and weirdos, and turns out to be what they need. Very enjoyable. I've always loved Joe Morton and his character in this is wonderful.

Conan the Destroyer is a classic as far as I'm concerned. Both of them are. This one is fun for me to watch scenes where Wilt Chamberlain is standing straight up next to any co-stars, just a giant. Grace Jones is of course her crazy '80's self. Arnold is Ahnold. I hope Conan the King or whatever the 3rd one will be titled does eventually come out. Early on I had read several times that Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson would play Conan's son in it.

Fantastic Four - a fine attempt at another Marvel comic adaption. Glad they didn't go 'campy' like originally thought. The FF movie is not bad at all. Not my favourite comic adaption (Conan's are better except for the obvious age of them).

Superbad - hadn't seen this one before. Really funny. Not going to be everyone's cup of tea at all, but for those who liked the 40 year old virgin, this would be a few of those characters in senior year at high school. Of course this one is made by mostly the same guys, so I guess that is a 'duh' moment?

Goldeneye - Ahh, Mr. Bond. One of my absolute favourite James Bond movies. First one with Mr. Brosnan at the helm, also I believe it is the 1st one with Dame Judy Dench as 'M'? Famke Janssen (Jean Grey in X-men) is in this one, playing an extremely attractive.....extremely attractive....villain. And of course Sean Bean (do I have to mention who else he plays?) is the trader, 006.

Dragonlance - an animated tv movie. A good attempt to bring the Weis/Hickman created characters to life on the screen. Although I wasn't entirely sold on the type of animation, seemed a little to 'childish' to me. Not bad though, if anyone is a fan of the earlier Dragonlance novels then this movie should probably be seen. This movie is the 1st story the actual search for the Dragon Lances I believe, if my memory serves me correctly? Kiefer Sutherland is the voice of Raistlin Majere, the frail mage who sacrifices his body (and life) to gain more power (not in this novel, although his struggles are eluded to). Hmmmmm....that sounds a bit familiar me thinks...
 
after resisting for quite a while. Very, very sobering. Even if you only subscribe to half of it, it's pretty scary.

The Holiday was on TV, a fun little movie. I'm not a fan of Cameron Diaz, but she was more likeable than I've seen her in this. As for Jude Law, I had not quite understood his appeal, but in this movie ... *fans self* .. wow.
 
She doesn't grate my nerves as much as she did in the first couple of episodes, but I still just don't like that character. It could be that I have a strong dislike for the actress, which is flowing over into the show, or that I just need to give her more of a chance. I will say that I do like the fact that the writers don't seem to be trying to push her and the Doctor together like they did with Rose and Martha.
 
... and becoming more and more convinced that they dropped the ball when they killed off Charlie. Every episode in Season 4 had me going "Ugh". I've decided that this is the last LOST DVD set I'm buying and I'll tape the rest and delete them after watching them... they're just not worth my money, even if I do get them at a discount.
 
I'm so glad that you are a new convert to SUPERNATURAL.It's my favourite show and I can't remember when a sibling relationship on TV has been played so perfectly and with such intensity.Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are not just pretty faces, they really can act, and their scenes together are always special.The humour and emotion within each episode mean that I can watch them over and over and find something new each time.I can't really say anything bad about this show!

Season 3 has ended and Season 4 is still a long way off.[unsure] How is Sam going to get Dean back? Will their brotherly bond suffer or will they continue to fight evil together? I can't wait to find out[sly]

I have no idea who the actress who plays DN is, but I still find her to be the least likable of the 3, even if she isn't romantically drawn to the Doctor. Granted, she is better now than in the Xmas Special, but still WAY on the bottom of the list of recent companions.
 
I am hoping that our cables On Demand service will start showing season 3 soon.

I knew I loved the show, but it had been so long, I didn't realize just how much I love it. It is SO AMAZING to get back in touch with this series and get to see why I'm such a Firefly fanboy. Although, as it gets closer to the end, I start to feel the anger of its cancellation. You get so much in the 13 episodes + Serenity, I can only imagine what it 'could have been'. At least we have that much.

Jumper. Can I give it 1 out of 10 stars? Didn't like the lead actor, didn't like the premise, just--so glad I netflixed this and didn't blind buy it, or waste money seeing it at the show.

Bucket List. I'm so not wanting to see flicks about folks dying. I really need a break from that. I didn't realize when I netflixed it that the people were already kicking the bucket, I thought it was just what to do, & see before you got to that stage. It is uplifting in its way, but not what I wanted to watch.

The Pallisers. I finished this, and I loved it. Yes, it was just an Edwardian political soap opera, but it was fun. How I've just now come to watch these I don't know. Because I enjoyed it so much I watched...

1900 House and Manor House (again.) Manor House remains the best of the house series that I have seen, and I think this is the 4th one.
 
I saw Priscilla: Queen of the Desert in Auckland during the weekend, and it is absolutely, fantastically brilliant. Stunning singing, fantabulous costumes, the characters were as outrageous as in the film and there is some nice modernising to the story.

And yes, the ping-pong ball dance *is* in the show!

If this ever travels outside Australasia, do yourself a favour and make sure you see it - it will blow you away.
 
'Priscilla' is one of my all-time favorite films - I watch it at least once a month.I hope that it does make it State-side!
 
I have yet to find anyone who doesn't like her! I'm surprised you guys don't! I didn't like her much in the Christmas special, but she has come so so far since then. I've never seen her in anything else and I think she is doing a really great job playing Donna. IMHO she is s o much better than Rose.

Why do you dislike her so much?
 
In addition to 'Firefly', i'd also like to go back and re-watch all of 'Buffy' and 'Battlestar Galactica'. I really should do that, since I already have them, and it would save me the money I send to Netflix every month!

BTW - there is going to be a 'Serenity' charity screening coming up later this year in ATL. I'll keep you posted.
 
Beowulf and Grendel starring Gerard Butler,and Eastern Promises starring Viggo. Enjoyed Eastern Promises,have to watch Beowulf and Grendel again as not quite what i expected. [unimpressed]
