What do you think of the new 'The Lovely Bones' trailer?

I watched it a couple of times. And I love it.
The views of the heaven part are really wonderful, all the colors, the happy girls running.
The look of the seventies feels good. I don't know what it looked like back than (I'm just a bit too young for that), but when I see my parents in pictures, it fits.
And the tense feelings and scary moments when her sisters goes to take a look in the murderers home, exciting.
I can't wait to see it, I only hope it will get to cinemas here, it isn't in the overview with upcoming movies (yet, I hope).
 
I'm shivering and in tears. This is amazing!!! So many spot-on instants. omg.... I'm so glad they got Walhberg and Weisz. oh cripes MrCere. I'm shaking like a leaf. This is going to be phenomenal. Finally.... finally...
 
I have purposefully not re-read the book since I found out PJ was going to make it a movie. But from what I remember, I think the movie is going to be better than the book, just based on the trailer. That little bit of the sister going into the killer's house is so suspenseful and I don't really remember having that sense when I read the book. I'm really looking forward to this!

At last! Some decent footage! I've never finished the book (I only got halfway), but I'm now determined to finish it after seeing the trailer.

'Heaven' looks spectacular and I can hardly wait how PJ and co. adapts the story. I'm excited to see Saoirse's role as Susie after her exceptional performance in Atonement.

My minor gripe is that the trailer looks like it spoiled the entire plot. [mad]
 
It looks very different from his other movies to me but it looks incredible. Who wrote the book?
Is it the story of her afterlife? I don't really know anything about it, but i'm still excited.
 
It looks like this could be a great movie.
I just hope PJ makes the ending work, which is something I think the author failed to do in the first place. It's a pity; the begining is wonderfuly written.
 
and I believe it was her first work. She had a devastating experience when she was younger that she drew from to write this story. There are many surprises, twists and turns in this that will definitely keep you riveted. Here's a link to some earlier discussion on the book:

It ultimately is a story about family. About believing in each other, patience, and unconditional love. The way it's written, you care about each character... including the villain in a strange way. Every character has their own personality and are so different from each other. This is anything but predictable. If you can find it on books on CD, listen to it. The reader has an incredible voice, and it really brings the story alive. These glimpses into the film still have me reeling.

What I also like about it is that Peter filmed it in Pennsylvania... which is where the story takes place. He left NZ for this one.
 
I thought it was a great book overall, but there were a couple of things about the ending that I found really disappointing and odd. It might work better in the movie though, depending on how they do it.

I'm still thinking about whether I want to see this. I mean, I want to, but the book was so very sad, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to physically carry enough tissues into the theater . . . [:(] [crazy]
 
This makes me more psyched to see this movie--looks on the surface that Fran, Phillipa and Peter have delivered another fantastic movie!! I can't wait--now I gotta read the book!!
 
I think the trailer looks fantasic! Can't wait to see the visuals on the big-screen, and I'm definitely intrigued by the story.
 
I adore the book, although not everybody here does. It is my favorite book about family. I wouldn't miss the experience of reading it before seeing the movie if I were you.
 
is much better in the film than the book. I found the majority of the story to be fantastic and then it turned overly weird at the end and I felt all the momentum that had built up disappeared in a flash. An unfortunate pity.
 
WOW....I'm scared and emotionally attached and want to swing Anduril on the killer! or Glamdring or Sting....and we can't save her can we, she's dead....PJ rocks, the sweet beginning of the trailer (fotr) becomes death and strategy (TT) leading to all out war to get the killer....my heart was pumping by the end....will see this one with my dad.....we love scary/supernatural movies (screaming 'run, jamie lee, run!!' when she falls on the front lawn in 'Halloween').

This looks AMAZING. I really must read the book before the film comes out. Anyone know who is playing the role of the murderer? His face looked familiar but I couldn't work out who it was.
 
As horrifying as the beginning was in the book, the book itself was, as you say, more a story about family. That's what I'm hoping to see. But if they play up the suspense and the gore and make it a slasher movie, I'm going to be really disappointed. I mean, I would expect the opening to be horrifying, but I don't what that to be the tone of the whole movie.
 
I usually really enjoy Tucci, but I haven't seen him as a bad guy before. Unless you can call "Muerte" a bad guy (Undercover Blues).
