What about TH in 4D?

The National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD has what they call a "4-D immersion theater." You watch a 3-D movie enhanced "with special sensory effects, like mist and wind."

*Imagines the promos for a 4-D Hobbit*
"Feel the heat of Smaug's wrath and smell the goblin pits of the Misty Mountains"

Ok, maybe that's not such a great idea....
 
That would be awesome if they through cram at you while watching and got soaked when Bilbo is on the barrel, and we want to smell the smoke from Smaug and from Bilbo and Gandalf's pipes
 
I take a string of characters which need to be scanned one by one in their proper order to be 1D. It is possible that L.Ron might take the view that the characters must have "width" or "height" along with direction in order to be scanned. I think that would be a pedantic view (and, believe me, I know about pedantry!).

From where I'm sitting the 1D version of the Hobbit, painstakingly written down in a straight line by JRR Tolkien, is the best we're likely to get. And the BBC radio version isn't bad either.

I first read Flatland about 40 years ago. I thought I had bought it but can find no trace of it in my library. Until recently I was convinced that I had been "Bracegirdled" by Hugo. But a niggling suspicion that I never owned it and had borrowed it from the library has recently surfaced.
Whatever I can now consult it to my heart's content.

Patty, don't forget, scientifically speaking, "Time" is the 4th dimension. And, as far as i'm aware, all films take a period of time....
So, 2D films also have a 4th dimension...soooo...i suppose, you could call them 3D !
Which would make 3D films....4D!! lol[tongue]

Mind you, if memory serves me correctly, to enable "string theory" and "Quantum theory" to both work there need to be at least 10 dimensions...
Now, what would THAT mean for the Hobbit?...and imagine the debates on these forums! lol [crazy]
 
I think it's typically either 10 or 11 dimensions, but it's not set, there are predictions with many more. I'm not really very familiar with string-theory though.
So maybe if all these dimensions exist everywhere we already have 10 or 11D movies [tongue]
 
That way, I get to actually step *into* the brains of Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Phillippa Boyens, and the genius Guillermo Del Toro. Actually relive their memories of every day on set. Revlive the whole experience. Ah, that would be heaven...

If we made TH with 10 dimensions maybe we could turn on a few other universes. But would it be in 2D ,3D or what[crazy]?

2ndly, google the 4th dimension and go to Wikipedia's definition and see if you can watch the the tesseract in motion for a full minute. I dare ya lol. It made me queasy.
