Who among you has a much-loved beast with one or more weird habits (or full blown OCD)? Most dogs are a laugh-a-minute (but some are more "laughy" than others[
]).
Mine aren't the most exciting examples; but I can't wait to hear all of yours!!
Cami the Border Collie's Primal Moment (1), and Silliest OCD habit (2):
(1) When given a new big beefy bone to chew, she will walk around at it making moaning noises and looking expectantly at her humans. She'll put it down, moan and stare at us expectantly, pick it up, repeat the process, and finally bury it behind a sofa cushion, often after shredding whatever paper object might be on the couch to help cover it up. Ritual completed, she will then, in just a few minutes, retrieve the thing and chew it to death.
My favorite/least favorite episode is when she chose, among several available items, to tear up part of a book on sled dogs ("Winterdance," by G. Paulson) to complete the burial!!
(2) Whenever she receives a little peanut butter as a treat (usually to deliver medication) after she eats it she always stops and licks her right foreleg for about 30 seconds before doing anything else. There is never any peanut butter on her right foreleg. (I don't get it--but that's why we love 'em I guess!![
