Wally's to see if it has better pricing on this set first. It's more than a little costly. Although, 10% off on that Fellowship of the Ring Tee shirt in silhouette is tempting.
 
It has been awhile since I've been through all the extras on my original EE DVDs, but I don't recall anything about "War in the North". I see it listed on all three Part 1 disks. What is this? Just an ad for a video game? Or something more interesting?
 
I want to see the blu-ray review before purchasing this. There were, according to the review issues with 'Fellowship' on the theatrical release, and for me a double dip needs be a 100 percent upgrade. It's nice that the prints are offered, but the prints (and other incentives) are secondary to having a sublime viewing experience.
 
According to the WB press release The Fellowship has been remastered. However like you I will wait until bluray.com reviews the video quality. I've seen no info on the encoding but given that all 3 films are on 2 discs each I have to think that they aren't using much compression in order to ensure the best quality possible. There has been much crying on amazon and bluray.com about spreading the films over 2 discs. Apparently many people are insulted by having to get off of the couch for 30 second over a 3+ hour span. I don't have any issues with it as long as the split is done when there's already a natural break in the story.
