Hey, everyone!

I'm subbing again today, so choose your food/drink/etc. and tell us about your past week and/or upcoming weekend! :)
 
It's hot and steamy here today, and supposedly it's going to rain and storm. We need the former, the latter, not so much.

I've just now gotten to TORn this morning, after taking care of some paperwork. Or, more accurately, pixelwork, since most of my business is done on-line now. I did just get a nice check written on paper, though [:)]

The Gaffer and I have a quiet weekend planned, after running around all over town yesterday. He did find time to make cinnamon rolls for our second breakfast this morning, though. It's no bad thing to celebrate a simple life! (Hm, where have I heard that before...[tongue] )

I'll go get caught up with the boards now. Cheers all around!
 
I am way pumped about this. I just opened up my own website. We had to create a website for my Web Design class, and instead of using the school server I decided to buy my own domain name and start my own corner of the web to display my work and take commission work. I had my finals (which were just projects being due, and CDs with all of my work), so now I'm done with school. Today and this weekend I have a lot of artwork I am doing, as well as the usual job search grind. Fun times.

I've been swamped with finals for the past few weeks, but I just got my grades a couple of days ago, and all the studying paid off! So I was very pleased about that.

I just finished my first week of my internship (actually at work now), and it's wonderful. Basically, I write one or two articles a day, and they will get posted on the site or printed in the paper or newsletter, and do various deskwork things that they assign me, and then I get paid! This is wonderful. Very exciting.

I'm also lifeguarding on days I don't work as well as weekends, so this is the first summer I've actually kept two jobs. It's kind of busy, but definitely busy in a good way. I'm learning to use the bus system here, which was kind of complicated at first, but I'm learning.

It's been such a great start to the summer!! And it's my birthday in eleven days! :D (I'm very excited about that, too)

It has been so unbelievably dry out there, I do hope it's more rain than lightning.

It feels so great to be done with school, doesn't it? Even though it's still busy, it's nice to not have to study and stress out about grades for a while. [:)]

...I finally broke down and ordered a Kindle last night! With a cute "antique" leather cover. Yay! Now I just have to decide what to load it up with.

I may still do some clothing "retail therapy" this weekend, too. Not because I'm in mood, but just because I want some new clothes.

I made the mistake of trying some of the other coffee varieties on our office coffee machine, to see if I like any others better than the breakfast blend, and I found a couple options. So now I actually have to choose. [unimpressed] That's why I never try anything new at restaurants...

I got up at 2:30 a.m. with a headache. The aspirin finally kicked in and so as not to awaken OhioHobbit, I just went to sleep on the day bed in my office. I woke up and turned over about 7 a.m. I stretched out and thought I was grabbing the headboard to pull myself up further on the bed -- but it was the lamp beside the bed. It is an early-American style with lamp chimney covers and beautiful milk glass globes over the chimney cover. Well, I ended up pulling over the lamp and the three sets of glass exploded and my office was showered with glass shards. For some reason, I wasn't hurt but OhioHobbit couldn't tell where the noise came from, so it took him a while to find the source. I had to wait in bed for him to get me some slippers that weren't covered in glass before I could get up and start the clean-up. We finally got it cleaned up, but I am sure I will find glass shards a year from now. Now I have to see if I can find replacement glass for the lamp -- and maybe bolt it to the floor!

Other than the lamp incident, it has been a quiet week -- just watching the rain come down. We are supposed to have a 30 percent chance today and it is supposed to be SUNNY tomorrow -- hope, hope.

I guess an iced tea would be nice today and a lemonade for OhioHobbit. Just ordinary -- no more excitment! [:/]

Just popping in here! It's the day I'm like a kid in a candy store: the Scholastic Book Fair has ended, and the librarian and I are scooping up $1000 worth of books, donated to the Library here thanks to their sales!

Hardbound children's picture books, early readers, junior fiction, some young adult, amazing authors (John Grisham! Al Yankovich - yes, Weird Al has written a really nice kid's book!)

So I'm a bit giddy, will take a tall raspberry iced tea if you've some behind the counter there, thank you! [:)]

And I'm impressed with your artwork. I admire someone who can draw a picture that actually looks like something. I can just about do stick figures is all.

Glad to hear you're finished with school for the moment, and good luck with the job search!
 
Oh, yea, it really does. I'm thinking I'm going to be taking a summer class, granted, but it won't be the workload that the spring semester was.

I never stressed much about grades; the nice thing about not having tests and only projects is that you really can control how well you do, instead of relying on memory and studying.
