I'm just popping in quickly - they're having workshops at the school today, and we're being given Free Lunch shortly! [laugh]

We've secured all the hatches and picked up plenty of munchies and battery lights for the impending storm. We were supposed to visit my Dad in Massachusetts tomorrow, but if we travel at all it will be a quick trip! The rains are supposed to start in the morning, and the winds by afternoon.

It's both terrifying, and exciting! Keep your fingers and toes crossed that everyone in the path of Irene stays safe! [crazy]

So something strong to warm me up would be nice! It seems that summer has left us a little early...

We are off hiking in the Yorkshire Moors this weekend. We travel up tomorrow, and do a 6 mile hike, then on Sunday, 15 miles. On Monday we pick our puppy up, can't wait!

My nephew Dylan would have been pretty excited about the pup, he and Scout were great friends, he seemed to have inherited my affinity for the animals. I do hope he can see us, and see the new puppy, wherever he is now. [heart]

I am off work for 10 days now, so plan to get some house stuff done. Exciting things like painting the bathroom ceiling, and cutting back the bushes in the garden are lined up for me next week!

Hi gramma! It's good to see you!! I've had a fun week-- just started classes!!! I *love* my religion class especially, on approaches to studying religion, and we get to read lots of classics in that class that I've always wanted to read, book by Emile Durkheim and William James.

I also bought myself a used Playstation2 for a "beginning of the year" present for myself, before realizing I didn't have a TV, so I went to the GoodWill store and bought a ten dollar tv, and then radio shack to get a converter so that I can hook up my new tv to the playstation. It took about a week to finish my little project, but now I can play all sorts of PS2 games, and I didn't even spend that much money on it! I have to go easy on what I spend from now on for about a month, but I'm still very satisfied with my new setup.

My new roommate, who is a huge LOTR fan, contributed a couch, a lovely pink rug, a LOTR poster (various scenes from ROTK to go with my Frodo and Sam on Mt Doom poster) and a little tv stand to our room, so it's looking very homey right now. I love it! This school year has started off on an excellent note-- I will take that as a good omen.

I will take a root beer float to celebrate (and stay cool). Happy Friday, gramma!
 
Hi Gramma, good to see you behind the bar. Can I have an iced tea, something to cool down after a hectic week at work. We had the final group of graduation assignments this week. 70 nervous students having to give a presentation about their final thesis, which meant for us making sure all the rooms were ready, papers ready and get all the catering to the right place. But we managed to get everything done, and almost all the students passed their exams, happy for all the students!

This weekend their is a music festival with lots of bands from Holland and as one of the headliners UB40, good old memories!

And next week school starts. Besides working at school, I'm also going to attend school. I'm going to study to get my bachelor degree in Communication. It will be a lot of work, but also fun. We had an introduction yesterday, the classmates seem really nice (although a bit young). I bought my books today, flipping through them right now, they look all so very interesting. I'm really looking forward to it.

Well, here it is Friday again. For a change, I am not going to complain about the smell around here! They got finished hauling last weekend, so we have been enjoying good country air sans pig.

OhioHobbit would like ginger beer and I am hankering for a raspberry iced tea.

We don’t have much going on Saturday and Sunday but cleaning. My daughter is coming on Monday and her coming gives us a good excuse to do some heavier cleaning. It is her birthday Monday, so for a change, I get to spend her birthday with her. I have spent the summer making her a beaded evening bag. It seems like I have been sewing millions of beads, but I am sure it is only thousands. I had some material with pictures of butterflies on it, so I just put colored beads on the butterfly part and plain black for anywhere there weren't butterflies. Here is a picture of the front and back of the bag.

On second thought, stay cool, and then trade places with me. I will live in England for a while, and you can live here in Texas, and we will both be much better off. [cool]

I have just recently bought myself a butterfly-covered sweater for the autumn, a bag like that would match it nicely! [;)]

I think a variation of Dylan's name (or actually use his name) would be wonderful for you new pup :)

and thats just the weather report!

Ive had 1 interview this week - unsuccessful (30mile round trip on public buses) so I wasnt particularly pleased as I thought the job was Reception/Admin and it turned out to be general dogsbody for a recycling plant so im not too fussed over it. Im fed up of traipsing on 4 and 5 buses and 3 and 4 trains for interviews that I dont even get a sniff of success at (this was the exception) This months Jobsearch total being 33 jobs.


been looking at getting into University but its all up in the air until Wednesday when the tutors come in [pirate]
as though im entitled to £265 cash for books and travel, its the course fee benefit i need and in order to go for the course the part time course must be 75% intensity compared to the same Full Time course and the prospectus dont actually say about that :/ as on basic £50 a week its impossible for me to go Full Time and still get the benefits and look for work - and impossible for low income family to support me for a year through University when the course fee is £1250.

but Im concerned for my friend who lives in SC in the path of this horrid hurricane :/ considering he was talking to me through that earthquake (their 1st!) which is a surprise thought US had more than UK (Ive been in 2)

I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in. [laugh]

She's put me on Nexium for 30 days to see if that clears up my tummy issues. If not, then she wants to scope it to see if there's anything else going on. [:(]

Other than that, all she recommended was a good pair of walking shoes to make sure the foot pain doesn't turn into full-blown plantar fasciitis, which apparently is not that easy to fix...

I was up way too late last night fighting with iTunes. I finally found a download of the LOTRO music, which I imported into iTunes. Then I tried to add more tracks, and could not get iTunes to pay attention to anything I told it to do. The tracks are there in the folder; the iTunes program just won't bring them into the Library so I can listen to them. [tongue]

This morning, I'm drinking my coffee and trying to figure out if (whether) the sentence I'm reading is conditional or whether (if) it has two discrete choices. Or not. [crazy]
 
That is really pretty! I'm sure your daughter will be very happy with that bag as a birthday present.

I'm working on a costume right now, sewing on sequins (and also millions (ahum, hundreds or more) and still many to go).
