Well here I am....in Lake Placid, New York...a canuck.....a Canadian....sitting in a hotel room....amazed at the sporting history in this town. The 1980 Winter Olympics are the first event that jump to mind....why? Cause I'm one of those hockey-lovin' Canadians-Canucks...which means I eat-sleep-breathe hockey, 25/8....hockey is in the blood....on the mind....at the finger tips.....and this town screams hockey, not only does it scream hockey....but it slaps you right in the face, stuns the jaw, waters the eye with it. Cause it is here, that the Yanks beat the mighty Soviets,....stomped'em! Took down the juggernaut. Stunned the world!!!! Just like Ali did years before! So here I am...in this sleepy little town, soaking up the American-hockey-history...amazed and in awe. And gosh-darned happy to be here. The 12-year old in our house made a representative hockey team this year..a big step......and its the lowest ranked rep. team in our tiny community....ranked 4th of 4 at this age level. And to our surprise our 'big' tourney this year was Lake Placid..the home of the 'Miracle On Ice' (last season was Detroit).......and we're here...representatin'.....Anyway....the team, parents and siblings took a nice chartered bus down here....and we're cruisin'.....on our way to the rink in style....and low and behold at the foot of the driveway to the arena....is a store. One of those everything type stores....sellin' t-shirts, hats, tuques....sweaters..posters...everything!!! And what is the store's name? ...There and Back Again.......I have pics...I will post....Gandalf be there......I promise.......and was officially labeled a geek when I pointed it out and subsequently walked down the road to get a pic with my phone....Well, I guess I shouldn't say I was labeled a geek.....since the geekishness has always been 'publicly' there....brandished 'more of a geek than ever'.....I guess you could say....and, well here I am....in Lake Placid, New York...a canuck....a Canadian...sitting in a hotel room....revelling in my geekiness......smile and as Stan Lee would say......read on true believers...
