First off, hello there. New member :)

I hope the scene that shows Bilbo finding the ring in The Hobbit plays out exactly like how Bilbo found the ring in the beginning of the FotR. Same camera angles, same lines and everything.

I think this because if The Hobbit movie is going to tie into the LotR trilogy, it would be nice to see both scenes match up pretty well otherwise to me it would be weird that it shows two different scenes on how Bilbo found the ring.

However, I'm afraid this isn't going to be the case but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
 
Martin Freeman will be portraying Bilbo in this scene, not Ian Holm! I don't see how enough people would remember the specific camera angles and line for them to be necessary, as continuity has not been maintained between the scenes already due to a re-cast (understandably so, given how Holm has aged) Bilbo.

It would be neat if the same line was uttered and the camera angles were the same, but the scene will already be more or less the same: Bilbo finds the ring and Gollum, just as the audience was shown in flashback.

Ya sorry I know Ian Holm will not be portraying young Bilbo.

Oh and they can go back to the FotR scene and hear what the lines were. It was only a simple "What's this? A ring!" and Gollum in the background yelling "No! My precious is lost!" Not that hard to remember. [:P]

I can see where you're coming from, and I think that people who have seen the films enough times will remember how that scene played out; however of course Martin Freeman is Bilbo this time around and will do things slightly differently anyway. I thought of that scene more as a summation of events that exactly what happened, since of course a whole lot else went on in the book, especially dialogue-wise.

But I would like for them to do something similar, perhaps with the camera angle [:)]

of, "I didn't tell you the whole truth", makes it possible for The Hobbit's cave scene to differ from FOTR's cave scene without cries of 'plot hole'! Well, I'm sure there will still be cries but Bilbo's changed storytelling is a solid counter-argument.

especially if you consider Holm is involved in The Hobbit.
I mean, there is no sign of disrespect toward him, he is in The Hobbit, he IS Bilbo, the old one. The young one is Freeman.
I look at it as the old Gollum in FOTR, who needs to be replaced, matching the one we see in TTT and ROTK.
 
1. Martin Freeman (obviously [:P])
2. his clothes (different colors)
3. the first video blog shows Bilbo carefully picking it up with his left hand, and in the FotR he fumbled around and picked it up with his right hand

There hasn't been any indication that they'll release FotR again with Martin Freeman in that prologue scene. I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but right now I don't really see it as a given.

PJ has mentioned changing Gollum though.

He picks up the ring and immediately hears "Thief, he stole our precious" this won't happen in The Hobbit either...

I am certainly consistent in my likes and dislikes!

However, people have often expressed surprise when I have complemented PJ on something, or spoken highly of a certain scene in LOTR.

To them, I am not so predictable.

Hmmm Yeah I think that maybe they'll at least nod to that sequence, but I suspect it might vary quite dramatically anyway. But I know what you mean
 
They needed to convey the backstory in basically 20 seconds, so they cobbled together something which ignored the text of The Hobbit to merely be efficient. I don't like the fact that he just "falls into" the Ring. In the book, he sees it twinkle in the darkness from his sword, which gives it a greater emotional connection to the elements at play. Though from the trailer, we can expect that he'll see it regardless of the light and merely walk over to it. I hope it's a longshot, at least!
 
It may make sense to change it in the end? But I see what you mean. I think it depends on how Old Bilbo will work.
 
opening and closing the story, but I guess that depends on whether or not they decide to have him tell the story?
