The Revised scroll is now up on the Official Website

Well, there goes any hope of seeing Beorn, Mirkwood, or the Elves in Film 1.

Ah, well, us Ringers will live. Plus that means we've got a lot more to look forward to in The Desolation of Smaug.

[:)]

I still live in hope, you know. I'm pretty sure Beorn is hiding in one of those trees. And if you look hard enough, I can see a barrel. [;)]

At least we're still getting the film. I would have been truely gutted if they delayed it until next year.

so they've actually managed to cut their original film1 in half. I wasn't expecting this at all and I can't even imagine how it will be done. Looks like the misty mountains will be the main focus and the journey from Bag End to Rivendell must be alot longer than in the books. What would the White Council's story for film1 be though? Gandalf will be with the company the whole time and won't leave for Dol Guldur until film 2.

Since Gandalf is with the Company the entire time (apart from during the night at Trollshaw). It seems like the Dol Guldur plot will be introduced through the White Council meeting.

That does look like Beorn behind a tree. A September 4 article here on TORn states that "IMDb has now listed Persbrandt as participating in all the three movies." However, it's not clear how recently the cast has been updated for the 1st movie. The production notes were last updated in July.

...we'll get at least dol guldur and the barrow-downs
besides the goblin-town and maybe some dwarf-history, this film apeals to me more boring the more spoilers i get.

Is likely during Gandalf's discovery of Thrain in the dungeons. There probably won't be any foreboding, since they'll want to keep the Necromancer (and his true identity) a surprise.

From that image, it looks to me like the eagles are going to help the dwarves battle the goblins as opposed to simply whisking them away (although it will probably still end that way).

Not at all! Come on let our spirits fly high, I´m shure PJ would give us so fantastic vista of Middle-Earth that in a minute the sceptics will be gained by the power of the images. I will tell once more that we are gonna see dwarf history not only in a mere flashback, preppare yourself for a huge massive lesson of dwarf history in AUJ, I´m still feeling that AUJ will put dwarfs into the higer rate of races of Middle-Earth, showing the pride, and roughness of this race with a so respectfull vivion that we will fall in love with them.
After this trilogy, dwarves are gonna be the favourite race of middle earth of many people that didn´t love them before.
There will be a lot of action, and humor, and the other two movies I´m shure that will be improved by this change
Besides, dwarves are many things but boring, aren´t they?[:P]

I know you aren't criticizing the photoshop job per se, but I know you too didn't really like some of the previously weird ones (like Empire magazine's creepy Bilbo, which is also being used for one of the tie-in books, ugh!), so I thought of popping in to say just how great this one actually looks [;)]

You know me, always failing to articulate myself [;)]. I wasn't criticising the standard of the photoshop at all, just the fact that the whole scroll is photoshopped - so what appears to be the case in the scroll, may not be the final version in the film (the best examples being the trees on fire, and the eagles.) I'd be surprised if they actually were the eagles (perhaps a photoshop replacement?) It's the same for the wargs - is this their final design?

And with regards to creepy Bilbo, I got hold of the Games Workshop magazine with him in it. Creepy Bilbo isn't so creepy in real life. I actually quite like the picture. Shocking! [shocked]

I did get that you weren't criticizing the photoshop job, and I said it, but I tend to write really long, complicated sentences, so maybe it got lost in the tangle.

No way! You can't just leave this camp [angelic][:P]

There should be a webcam feature on TORn - it would be so much easier to communicate [;)]

It still creeps me out on the computer though. It's certainly not the nicest picture of Freeman/Bilbo they could've gone for.

Or so i hope :c I was really hoping to see Mirkwood after seeing it in the production videos. Now we have to wait another year to see it! Gutting stuff :( We will soon have the trailer however, which may clarify all of our suspicions! .

Material we once thought we'd bee seeing in 2011, we'll be seeing in 2013 now...the first delay was far from PJ's doing, but the second is not fair play I say! Hmmmph humbug, Gorbag and general disgruntlement! :P

Not to mention, after everything he and his cast and crew went through to make these films, you'd think they'd want to show off their hard work.

Why can't our films just come out when and with what content they're supposed to, like say, Avengers, Pirates, Transformers, and many other far lesser works. Bah Bolgbagend!

Meh...whatever, am in a bad mood this morning. It's nice just to finally be getting a TH film, I suppose... :)

... the description of The Hobbit's iPad/iPhone app says this...

View a selection of animated character portraits, travel through a detailed map of Middle-earth and explore the stunning narrative imagery of “The Scroll” artwork to immerse yourself in the world of Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves, Orcs, deadly Wargs, giant Spiders and a fearsome Dragon.

... although even originally we never saw any Orcs, giant Spiders, or a fearsome Dragon.

So perhaps we are reading into it a bit too much, although on the other hand, I don't see the sense in shortening the Scroll unless we are reading into it right [crazy]

There is another small pic of two warg faces on a page in the Hobbit annual (I can't believe I have this before you do!) They look to be the same design except these have bluish glowing eyes rather than yellow. I think they'll be awesome on screen.
