Tauriel's love interest?

I'm going to go with a dark horse and say Kili. Considering his death, I believe it would increase the drama if he had a love interest when he dies. It's a perfect Romeo/Juliet in that both factions would disapprove, and the fact that Kili has looks that make it plausible superficially. PJ made a big deal about the growing friendship of Gimli and Legalos, and I think he'll do the same thing in the Hobbit with a relationship.

They would grow fond of each other while Kili is in prison and then he'll die protecting her in the Battle of Five Armies.

This is just my prediction. Any others? Will she have zero love interests?

That would be a completely unnecessary distraction. I don't mind her being around in Mirkwood, or growing fond of Bilbo and the dwarves, but having a love interest? No thanks.

Oh hell no! Please no! *still chockes* Not dissing your theory or anything, but I sure as heck do NOT want to see that! WAY WAY off the radar awkward!
Man I'm not a fan of the idea of Tauriel being a love interest, but for goodness sake let it be an elf or a man or something. I'd say Leggy...

In a perfect world P.J. would follow the book and not sidetrack, but her addition just screams to me "love interest", especially that Evangeline Lily is worried how she'll be perceived by fans.

...with an Elf from Mirkwood, according to the original casting description. She apparently turned into Tauriel, and PJ has said that the love interest isn't Legolas. So there's hope that she will only be a minor distraction.

actually, Itaril WAS an Elf of Mirkwood, and her romantic interest was an Elf of Rivendell (hence some speculations that Robin Kerr's "Elros" may be this character):

[ITARIL] FEMALE, A WOODLAND ELF, this character is one the Silvan Elves. The Silvan Elves are seen as more earthy and practical. Shorter than other elves, she is still quick and lithe and physically adept, being able to fight with both sword and bow. Showing promise as a fighter at a young age, ITARIL was chosen to train to become part of the Woodland King’s Guard. This is the only life she has ever expected to live, until she meets and secretly falls in love with a YOUNG ELF LORD.

[ELF WARRIOR] An ELF LORD of RIVENDELL. Tall and good-looking, he is very athletic and comes from a noble family. Wry and dry, with a sharp sense of humour, when forced into battle however, he is deadly with both sword and bow. Like all his race he is a master horseman.

But the character has probably been rewritten since this leak (from January 2010).

Some prosthetic make-up may also be required. LEAD. AGE: 17-27. ACCENT – STANDARD R.P.

If Tauriel is indeed Itaril renamed, which is still just fan speculation.

it's just idle fan speculation if it's a similar name (Itaril/Tauriel) and a similar character (female Elvish warrior of Mirkwood). Seems like a pretty educated guess that it's the same, or very similar, role within the script to me. [;)]

...really hope they don't go with the 'love interest' storyline with her. The Hobbit is not that kind of tale.

and please please please don't let it be a dwarf, if they do. Don't want this to be Titanic with Kili as Leo. It would be so awful and out-of-place plotwise it would probably ruin the movie for me.

think I just vomited. I hope there is NO love interest what-so-ever in the hobbit. Its bad enough they had to make up some strong female role to be Politically correct in this day and age. Tolkien didn't need Tauriel in the book... So I think there's no need for her in the movie other than being PC. Role could have been filled with a guy IMHO and the movie would be the same. the only love that NEEDS to be in the Hobbit is Thorin's love for his gold and revenge against Smaug... OMG still wanting to vomit at the thought of a Tauriel with dwarf or anyone love interest

I really don't want a whole "love story" thing going on. Can't there be a female role without any love interest? Just this once? Very disappointed with the addition of Tauriel. [:|]
