1)Let' s start with a review to see if i got right main protagonists' weapons displayed in the pictures

Thorin: Orcrist
Bifur:Harpoon
Oin : a sword? Club?
Bofur : Hammer like weapon
Bombur:Staff
Dori :Sword
Ori: Bolas?
Nori: Mace-staff
Gloin: Axe, maybe the same one Gimli uses
Balin:Sword
Dwalin: Fist-Knuckles?
Fili:Sword and Bow
Kili:Sword



2) We saw dwarf weapons in a troop during the last vlog 8.I just re-read the hobbit book, could it be that they are weilding erebor lances? I think i read a description that spoke about lances in the treasure of smaug.




3)Do you think we will see new equipment for the company in the battle of the five armies? I hope thorin loses orcrist for a badass axe and mail armor...
 
Dwalin wields two massive axes.

Ori doesn't seem to have a bolas, but rather, a slingshot.

Bombur seems to have a large ladle and a butcher knife (where did you see a staff?)

Balin's looks like a sword to me, but I have heard it described as a mace/ morningstar.

Bofur's hammer-like weapon is likely a mattock of sorts

Fíli: Dual swords.
Kíli: Single sword, and a bow.
Balin: Sword/mace-thingy.
Dwalin: Warhammer, and dual axes.
Óin: Some sort of metal-staff.
Glóin: A regular axe (indeed the same one Gimli later carries), and a throwing axe (which might also be the same one Gimli later carries).
Dori: A sword, and an axe. He also has some sort of morningstar-like chain hanging from his belt, what that really is, I cannot tell.
Nori: Mace-staff, and an axe.
Ori: Slingshot.
Bifur: Some sort of halberd-ish thing.
Bofur: Mattock.
Bombur: Giant ladle, and a meat-cleaver.

Also, at least Dwalin, Fíli, Nori, and Bifur, carry one or more knives on them.
 
is the flail-like weapon hanging from Dori's belt, right? I think I remember seeing it in action in a screencap of a vlog somewhere, apart from the initial character photo reveal.
 
I'm making costumes for me and my friends to go to opening night dressed as the dwarves, so I've been compiling all the weapons I can spot. Some of the weapons I've noticed are kind of obscure and I haven't heard them discussed yet. I have pics if anyone is wondering what some of the more difficult to spot weapons look like.

Here's my list:

Thorin: Orcrist, Dwarven-sword, axe, bow/arrows, oakenshield/with blades.
Fíli: Dual swords, dual knives, spade, hammer.
Kíli: sword, knife, bow/arrow.
Dwalin: Big warhammer, 2 axes, knuckledusters, knife, some kind of long mace.
Balin: Sword/mace looking-thing.
Bifur: spear/halberd, large knife, sword.
Bofur: mattock, axe, walking stick.
Bombur: ladle, meat-cleaver.
Óin: mining drill, knife.
Glóin: Axe, throwing axe.
Dori: sword, axe, bolas-chain-mace thing.
Nori: Mace-staff, axe, scimitar, twin crooked knives.
Ori: Slingshot, knife, hammer.


 
The book dwarves are not armed to the teeth like this, so you can cut them some slack, but that is not the case here. Perhaps they will be overly enthusiastic about using them, and get into more trouble than they would have otherwise.
 
They might loose some in the Goblin tunnels, down the Enchanted River and from escaping Thranduil's Halls. They'll pick weapons up from the Troll hoard, maybe from Elrond, Beorn and Laketown, and obviously, Erebor.
 
They seem to have slightly different gear they each carry when you check out the vlogs for different scenes. So most likely yes, they will lose some weapons and acquire others along the way.
 
Though I think this is one of those instances where I have to fully agree with his decision on the grounds that it would be too strange, given what we've seen from the lord of the rings films.

It would be hard to justify, for an audience, that a quest like this set in the same world as the lord of the rings would be planned out with it's party members completely unarmed.

Also the various weapons are a good way of fleshing out the differences and personalities of the dwarves, which again I think is necessary in film form. wish they kept the hoods... or at least made them more prominent as that was how the book distinguished the different dwarves and I've seen some of the instruments so hopefully they are also in.
 
I just hope they wear them as I always pictured the 13 hooded... which may explain why they seem to look more dwarven with the hoods, the books had us picturing them that way.
