Please sign up here to lead a chapter in our discussion of The Two Towers, which begins April 7. (A sign-up for The Return of the King chapters will be posted on Monday, August 4.)
Anyone can lead a discussion, and everyone is encouraged to do so. It's fun and easy! All you have to do is post questions about a chapter over the course of a week, typically posting one to three threads daily from Monday through Friday, wrapping up on the weekend with an "open discussion" thread for people to raise issues you haven't covered (sometimes discusison leaders also add a brief summary of the chapter and some of the ideas that came up in discussion).
Beyond the board guidelines concerning the use of copyrighted text (short excerpts only, as per Ataahua's sticky post above) there are no rules. You can see the different approaches discussion leaders use by browsing through the past five months of posts here. It's meant to be fun to lead a discussion, and that happens when you ask questions about subjects that interest you. I've enjoyed every discussion that I've led, and have learned lots that I didn't know before I started.
