Return of SCOD?

Hi all, I know it's been a bit since we've had a new Screencap of the Day discussion happening here, but I figured it could do with some time off. Anyhow, the reason I post now is to see when you all think we should start it up again (afterall, we want to be interested in it, right?). I said a while back that we could start during October, but right now I'm almost feeling like holding off until the New Year as a good starting point. I'm open to all ideas of course.

As well, do you want to stick with two screencaps per week, or back to the classic three?

All of the input would be greatly appreciated, because I'm sure there's plenty here who would like to see the discussions back up and running.

Sincerely,

One Ringer

how quickly you all normally get through all three films, but i think it would be a great idea to do next year as a build up for The Hobbit. Getting a little (or a lot) nostalgic about the movies while we gear up for the return to Middle-earth sounds like a great idea to me.

I think having a regularly scheduled discussion helps, but once you get into Nov/Dec it's hard to get leaders-- people are just too busy with holiday/year end stuff...so if you don't start this month, next year probably makes more sense.

I was thinking we should do a FOTR special this fall, of some kind, leading up to the 10th anniversary of that film's premier in Dec. of 2001...so that would give us some discussion fodder between now and the restart of SCOD in 2012..

(Not to hijack your thread, but if anyone has any ideas on what to mark FOTR's 10th anniversary, or wants to help organize what we do, reply here or send me a PM. I will gladly get the ball rolling, but would love some help...Thanks...[:)])

which I could repost... if anyone is interested.

It includes information leading up to and the response after for each of the teasers and trailers for FOTR.

Thanks for the offer! After I see how many ideas we get, I'll contact those who want to do something and we can schedule things out...[:)]

It usually takes us atleast a couple years to cover the entire trilogy (as long as I've been here). To even start now it would probably go beyond the release of both Hobbit films (which is kind of surreal to think). So either way it could work towards some sort of anticipation (sooner or later).

I never really considered the factor of the holidays and such. I would definitely be down for some sort of FotR special though. [:)]

Do you want to help with the FOTR anniversary stuff? Let me know if you just want to participate or if you want to take a week for whatever we come up with...

It could be our holiday feature around here, too. We could do all these scenes with snow in December and scenes with Elves around Christmas -- ha!

We're having BBQ's [laugh]
Though I could certainly throw both hands up to help with FoTR celebrations. Anything for a party. [cool]

How about, instead of having a chronological trip through the movies, have a themed SCOD trip, where different people post their favourite SCODS.
To add a bit of structure, you could walk through each of the characters in the three films- there are 9 walkers, and with Galadriel, Arwen, Elrond, Eowyn and Theoden, you have enough to tease it out, or you could do pairs for each month.

FOTR special, leading up to the 10th anniversary,

January: Frodo,
February: Sam
March: Pippin & Merry
April: Gandalf
May: Aragorn (& Arwen?)
June: Legolas
July: Gimli
August: Boromir (& Faramir?)
September: Galadriel
October: Theoden
November: Elrond (& Arwen? & Galadriel?)
December: Free choice, favourite SCOD.

You could do either 1, 2 or 3 a week.

Someone help me out, I don't know the SCODs so well.

But generally it's just because it's tough to find volunteers over the holidays. I think that waiting for the New Year makes a lot of sense. Longer breaks tend to bring more volunteers in when you get started again.

One aspect of the trailer information I posted was the screencaps of the trailers that TORn posted and people speculated about.

Just throwing that out there - in the spirit of brainstorming - in case it works into some sort of special edition of SCOD. It would be a reminiscing sort of endeavor.

I haven't been here in ages (trying to avoid Hobbit news) but I'm tentatively coming back and was rather excited to read this thread.

I used to love viewing SCOD and volunteered a few times, I'd be very happy to do it again!
