Presumptuous headline claims Hobbit to be made in Britain

The article is short - but the headline seems to think it is a done deal. Though, it doesn't say anything about where these "reports" are from. Thoughts?

In case the link doesn't survive, the story is:

Director Peter Jackson will reportedly film new movie The Hobbit in Britain after industrial action in New Zealand.
The Lord Of The Rings prequel was due to be filmed in New Zealand where all three of the original movies in the trilogy were shot.
However Warner Bros said the pay dispute with acting unions there has 'forced us' to consider other locations.
It was recently confirmed that The Office star Martin Freeman will be taking on the lead role of hobbit Bilbo Baggins.
It is thought the movie will be shot at Leavesden Film Studios in Watford, UK, where the Harry Potter movies were filmed.
 
Nothing new here, its just the same story we all know that Warners are still considering other locations. The headline is false.

Lazy reporting.
 
I'm not able to keep up with all the rumors and stuff, which is why I posted this here with recognition that the headline was quite presumptuous. Early replies here are confirming my own doubts - I really do hope they can make it work out in NZ.
 
She mentioned Warner's having a studio in the UK, which is Leavesden (which right now I can't spell, this is just approximate!) But it was mentioned as something that might happen, not as a done deal.
 
This is most certainly a negotiating tactic of Warners to try to ensure that they do not have to change their employment practices in NZ. It is preposterous to believe that the film can be done more cheaply, and with less of a concern about labor issues, in the UK. I can understand that they may find the UK to be a more stable environment, with labor laws set in stone and little uncertainty about the labor climate. However, no matter how much certainty there would be in the UK,, the costs there would far outweigh the costs of uncertainty in NZ.

East Enders is Walford a fictional London borough. Watford (Hertfordshire) is a real place. I don't know if the Leavesden studio is there but I think it might be; also they recorded some of the LotR music in Watford Town Hall.
 
Leavesden Film Studios is located at the site of a former Rolls-Royce factory near Watford, Hertfordshire. They have filmed all eight Harry Potter films there and Warner Brothers are currently looking to purchase it.

Eastenders is set in the fictional London borough of Walford.
 
It makes sense for Warner to utilize all their resources, and to have the HP set free right now is a big cost savings for shooting certain scenes. Martin Freeman is going to be quite busy filming in both Britain and NZ with Sherlock and The Hobbit, so it would make sense that in order to work around his schedule, certain specific scenes would be shot in the UK, while most others are shot in NZ. Also Ian McKellen may benefit from shooting some scenes in Britain as well. Not to mention, that they may have some scenes with older Bilbo or voice over work for narration for Ian Holm.

But I do not think the majority of these films will be shot in Britain. I would be surprised if some of it wasn't though.
 
Christopher Lee says he's read LOTR every year for about 50 years - I can't see him not wanting to be involved. Much more so than that Dooku dross.
 
in an interview that he's love to be involved, as long as his scenes can be shot in a London studio.
