Can you believe it's been a year already?

Ahhhh, just a year ago yesterday the big announcement was made here that we were getting new message boards! And I must say we've all settled in very well indeed: as of a few minutes ago, there were 74, 416 posts!! Let it never be said that us TORnsibs are ever at a loss for words. [;)]

Anyway, Sunday marks the day the new boards opened one year ago. So grab a glass of champagne, or whatever tickles your fancy, and raise a glass to our wonderful community and our new home!! [:)]

Glad you all made it here!!!

That huge number of posts, the many people who have signed up here. It's been quite an adventure watching it happen. I'm glad to have been here to see it.

It's been a quiet week here, but Spring Training camps have opened, and baseball is in the air. That makes me happy. Two more weeks until the first game, I can hardly wait.

Happy Friday, all, and Happy Anniversary, new boards!

Oh, and I need a warm drink today, it's overcast and somewhat drizzly and my toes are cold. Cheers!

I thought we were approaching the one year mark. How fast time flies! Thank you again, Altaira, and thank you to all your elvish helpers, for all your hard work.

Now, would you please add some miruvor to my champagne? It's just three weeks until the Gaffer and I leave for NZ and Australia, and (to make a long story short) we're very much afraid the storms and floods in Queensland have adversely affected a good friend, and will thus send us into a last-minute scramble to change our travel plans.

I'm really torn right now (no pun intended) between worry for our friend, who we haven't heard from since before the storms started, and feeling guilty for being concerned about our travel plans when our friend may well be in trouble. I've contacted some friends of hers, but with the time difference can't hope to hear anything for quite some time yet.

Waiting to hear, whether negatively or positively, can be worse than actually dealing with circumstances.

Ah well. Enough about me.

Everyone celebrate the new boards and have a great weekend!

*stuffs tip jar with kudos*

*pours hot chocolate and adds lots of marshmallows*

That ought to warm your toes! [laugh]

I hope you have a great rest of your Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Time really does fly, doesn't it? :)

Well, I spoke too soon last week about the weather. It did what weather often does-- it changed with little warning. So, once again the temp.'s in the single digits (F)-- below zero with the wind chill-- and it snowed, and it's supposed to snow again within the next two days (although the weather people say that by then it's supposed to get up to around 30... but since when do they know anything? Heheh :D ). I do like winter, but I think I am getting ready for Spring soon. Hopefully. :D

By the way, what on earth are the Tolkien Estate people thinking with this new lawsuit of theirs? Did they not like the LOTR movies or something? I mean, this is really ridiculous. You'd think they could at least wait until the Hobbit is done! *sigh*... Oh well. :)

Well, I'll have my Winter Usual, please, Altaira-- perhaps extra hot today, and I'll take some whipped cream and sprinkles too, please, for the TORNboardiversary. :D

I hope your friend is okay. I'm sure everything will work out for the best and you'll have a fabulous time in Middle-earth! [:)]

*addds extra miruvor to champagne*

Happy weekend, dear!

Brrrr! Sorry to hear your stuck in the cold for yet another weekend. [:(] Our cold snap is long over and it's supposed to be in the upper 40s & even upper 50s throught President's Day. I'll send some warm thoughts your way!

*hugs*

I seem to have caught a cold this week shovelling the record amounts of snow, and last week. So I'll have some Guiness to knock it out...Guiness makes you strong! Well done on the year anny of the boards....!

This year has gone so fast. Congrats to us at TORn! You guys did good!!!

Champagne sounds great, but I don't know how it will go with the pizza I am having for lunch!

Just got back from a touristy event at a rum plant. It was a lot of fun! There was a show with a silly-ified reinactment of some local history, with pirates running around [pirate], and assorted other costumed people, and a song and dance number at the end. And a rum tasting, and explanation of how they process the sugar cane. All bilingual.

I'm wearing my LOTR ROTK shirt, and afterwards one of the actors came up and said he's a LOTR fan, but that he "didn't put much time into it because he didn't want to go down that rabbit hole." We're in a rabbit hole? [tongue] Hi, fellow rabbits! [laugh]

Anyway, afterwards I felt kind of an obligation to be a good tourist (and that was some good rum!) so I bought a few bottles. Here, help yourself.

>Sunday marks the day the new boards opened one year ago. So hard to believe it's been a year already! Thanks again to TPTB for making this possible.

Happy Friday, all! Tomorrow I head back to NYC.

Champagne sounds wonderful. Remember all the teasers you and the other admins sent out? And all the speculation about that? I seem to remember some of the speculation was whether TORN was readying itself for a Hobbit announcement.

Heheh!

Nice to see you, S/G! Sounds like you had a lot of fun. :D I hope you have a great weekend also!

Since we've both had busy, busy weeks, that's how BG and I celebrated Valentine's Day last night: champagne and pizza (with a little chocolate thrown in for good measure). We'll do a proper dinner out this weekend.

Speaking of weekends, have a great one, Alcarcalime! [:)]

I was trying to think of a way to describe how I feel about TORn and the changes made and I came up with this: The old boards are like Gandalf the Grey and the new ones are like Gandalf the White. We loved the old boards, but the new ones have all of the things we love and more!

Happy Anniversary Altaira and all! It's finally Friday after our first full week of school in a long time. I'll take a root beer for the road!

I guess it's better than being lemmings, right? [laugh]

Thanks for the rum, and have a safe trip back to NY!

My husband is taking me out tomorrow for lunch. I made a special dinner last night, so he is treating me to a day out in return.
