Peter Capaldi is the next Doctor on Doctor Who

as I remember reading a rumour about it being him already several days ago.

I'm okay with the choice but I'm definitely gonig to miss Matt Smith.

We will see how they play with an older actor.

How do you think this will affect the portrayal/writing of the part of the Doctor?

I think the writing staff is sticking around, so I'm curious to see the new Doctor/companion dynamic, what with an older looking Doctor and all.

The Doctor had become darker since the Ponds left, and I think Peter Capaldi will embrace that. I love the choice :)

...but I don't know if people could get past the accent if he does it. I remember the northern accent put people off a bit. But we'll see...as long as they do it in a way that makes sense, I'm fine with it.

A great actor and massive fan of the show, and older doctor as well, great great news!! Hope he keeps his Scots Accent, and I can defintely see him bringing more of a darkness to the character...I wonder at 55, how he will cope with the contratual 'running down similar looking corridors repeatedly' scenes...

Good Luck Mr Capaldi!!

I have got to admit though...its going to be a little hard to forget his other role as a doctor in The Thick Of It...

That was not my intention at all, I'm 21 so I guess everyone looks old to me...

(I certainly don't think Capladi looks old in anycase)
