New Year's Mathom and Best wishes

Hello all! In some places of the world it's already 2010. 2009 was not an easy year... globally, and I know also for many of our fellow forummers. Let me wish you that all those difficulties serve as a growth opportunity, and that things are smoother and happier in 2010.

Let me wish you happiness, success, love and health.

And let me thank you for letting me share another year with you, as we repeatedly prove distance, age, nationality and beliefs have nothing to do with friendship and comraderie.

My wish for us, as a community is more and better information on The Hobbit, naturally. [;)] May 2010 be one of the best years of our lives.

Finally, I want to share with you a brief writing a dear friend of mine shared with me. I found it very nice, so I wanted to share it with you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I wish you to live. And to live fast. And to live hard.

A combination between holding on and letting go.

I wish you mindscapes, sightscapes, soundscapes.

Wine sodden country barbecues (all in the golden afternoon).

That song that makes you grin every time.

Rain falling on gardens .

Journeys written in oily Moleskines.

Road trips (cruise control off, please).

The darkness beyond the window during a night flight.

The smell of a new book.

Visits to wondrous places without even leaving the couch.

That extreme sport you never dreamed of trying.

Sunsets

Songs in the rain

Impromptu singing / Impromptu dancing

Compasses, magnifiers, magnets, thimbles, marbles... and all the stories that you craft with them

Cheeseburgers in paradise

And all those stylistically perfect moments that shape our lives...

Wish you well.

I second every one of your thoughts. How odd to think that some of our sibs are already in the new year, while others of us (like me) are waiting for it to pass over and gather us in.

No matter where on Earth we live, let us remember that we're all on this planet together. May we bring our beloved Middle-earth's stories of courage and hope into the world we live in every day.

A very, very happy new year to you all. Here's to peace, prosperity, good health, and siblinghood! (And news of The Hobbit, oh yes, precious.)

may it bring with it a wave of goodwill, and hope for the future! We have a beautiful full moon to light the celebrations here - rather bolder than Sam's glimpsed star, but a reminder that there's always light and hope, whatever else is happening.
Cheers to all sibs - wishing you all you wish yourselves in the year ahead!

Happy New Year to one and all. As I look back on 2009 and ahead to 2010, it is with deep gratitude and greatest blessings that I know that TORn has been and will continue to be a part of my life. Cheers, hugs, and best wishes to all of you and yours, wherever you are.

That was a really nice piece of writing. Thanks for sharing it, Compa.

Happy New Year, fellow Tolkien fans. I will now share with you some words from one of my other favourite authors, Neil Gaiman:

"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself."

Right back at ya. It's not quite 2010 here in Seattle, we're all still waiting for "New Year's at the Needle". 2009 was definitely interesting, not the best year. Heres to a better year, and the beginning of a new decade. This next promises to hold many new beginnings for my family, my grandparents will be celebrating their 50th anniversary, my parents will be celebrating their 25th, and I will be going to college!

Here's to 2010!

Best wishes to all!

A Lovely mathom to end the old year and herald the new. I hope 2010 is a good year to all torn-sibs!

Thank you for these wishes, Compa (and especially the one about the smell of a new book)!

To one and all, a grand New Year!

Here's wishing you, Compa, and everyone here, a prosperous and Hobbit-news-filled 2010! [cool][:)][laugh]
