New here, but I have an EE Appendicies question about Fili.

I have been reading these boards for a very long time, thanks to my daughters. They grew tired of answering my questions back during the LOTR days, so I had to find someplace that would satisfy my curiosity on various Middle Earth topics. I have greatly enjoyed reading on here from time to time, and especially enjoyed the "Majestic Thorin" and his hair posts from a few months ago[;)] (or year? time flies). And please forgive me if I word things incorrectly, as English is my second language.

That said, I have a question and can no longer wait to see if anyone else brings it up. Please, again, forgive me if I word this wrong, I will try my best not to be spoilerish.

On Appendix 8 from the Itunes download, there is a chapter called, "The Company of Thorin - Assembling the Dwarves". It includes the auditions of the various dwarves.

At 17:24, there is a very quick clip of Dean O'Gorman acting a part as Fili, I assume. My daughters and I are just beside ourselves with excitement because it appears to be a few lines from a certain part, laced with emotion, in perhaps the last movie, that divulges perhaps an order of damage that happens (trying to be cryptic, sorry)? I was under the impression that nothing at all was going to be shown of the movies not yet released, that we would only see stuff for AUJ in the extras from Itunes. Did someone goof up and inadvertantly include something that, if that quick couple of seconds is correct, is going to make me a sobby mess?

Or is this just a generic scene that all the other actors had to use in their audition? I believe it was said at the beginning of this chapter that everyone had the same lines, no matter what part they were auditioning for, so I might just be reading too much into this.

Can anyone shed some light onto this quick part? Was something shown regarding what Fili will be saying in the last film?

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the EE appendices yet, so I cannot answer your question (although I am very intrigued by it). However, I wanted to welcome you to the board, and compliment you on your excellent command of English. It is better than many for whom it is their first language!
 
Yes, they do include made-up scenes/dialogue that are never part of the films. HOWEVER, no, that doesn't meant we won't get a scene close to that which you've described - they needed to make sure Dean had that emotional range for a reason, and well...we know what happens in the book. [;)][:)]
 
Sometimes, those of us for whom English is not the first language try harder to make sure we don't goof up when speaking/writing. [:)]

So I am not the only one that noticed something in that brief audition scene! If nothing else, there certainly is no doubt that Dean O'Gorman will be able to pull off the emotion when needed. And if he has tears as in the audition, then I know I will, for there is something about seeing others cry that just makes me join in and grab the Kleenex. Time to buy Kleenex stock, because in about 13 months sales will be brisk![sorry]
