LoTR unused scenes?

I've watched all 3 of the movies extended editions and there are still those unused scenes that I've seen in trailers and teasers. Does anyone know how i can watch them?
 
Oh that's like 16 years away QQ.

Do you know of any trusted retailers that sell the limited edition versions of the movies?
 
I'm with you! I'd LOVE to have an edition with all of those deleted/unused scenes in them! Actually, you can catch glimpses of them during a lot of the documentary and extended edition extras... but not the whole scene(s).

Wandering Ranger is right. I'm counting on the special 25th Anniversary Edition Peter Jackson's teased us with.

Actually, he really did sound like he was going to put together a dvd soon than that (like in the next few years) with all of the unused/deleted scenes... just the scenes. Like a collection or collage of shorts. That was before the plans to make The Hobbits and Film2, so it could be that it won't pan out now. I haven't heard it mentioned since that inital *twitch* tease a couple of years ago. BUT Peter has never made empty promises before... so I'm still hoping for the best :D

Ahhh sweet, if PJ does pull through with that(which it seems like he will) i'll be double my age! haha

I've been looking around this place since last May googling around for any info on the Hobbit movies and have never bothered registering xD

Not about unused material, per se, but in line with the subject of unofficial, private 'fan editions'...

I remember PJ saying that with the advancement in standard consumer-level tools and technology it won't be long before fans could make their own versions for home viewing, such as recutting the scenes so that they are grouped more in the order of the books, for instance.

That wouldn't even require any reordering from the original form on the media itself. Just need a playback overlay where tags (unique pointers to time offsets) could be set at specific points, and a master list indicating in which order the segments are to be played. On a whiteboard the design looks pretty simple (basically, it's just metadata indexing).

The high-capacity DVD formats both had varying support for this concept. But it won't be long (surely, before the Hobbit is in theatres) that we'll be storing everything on solid-state and static drives (both HDDs and discs will be dead). Then we'd only be limited by software (and licensing restrictions).

I've been on a Quest to find as many as I can... and I've uncovered things I've never seen before! :D It's taking time, but it's ooodles of fun!

I'm hoping to have the list completed by Christmas if not way sooner... and then we can add to that as we discover more. Most have pics; some are only descriptions, but still rate a worthy spike on the geek-o-meter.
 
Some of those unused scenes may not be quite "insertable" based on the finished film. In particular, I am interested in seeing the scenes with Elrond and Arwen where she discovers the Paths of the Dead in a book. It is pretty clear to me when Arwen says "It is time," that we are not hearing the original dialogue that was filmed in that shot. You will notice that when this line is spoken, we are looking at a reaction close-up shot of Elrond... which seems to fit what she is saying... but, I think that scene probably went on for another 4 or 5 lines, then there was the discovery of the book... then the scene with Arwen and the shards of Narsil... and then a final scene where Elrond notes that the life of the Eldar is leaving her. "It is time," may not have been included in any of these scenes and may belong to another scene altogether, or may have just been a bit of ADR PJ added to smooth the transition between the truncated versions of the scene... or I may be wrong altogether!!! But it would not surprise me if this is how the shortening of the scenes was facilitated. We know from the commentaries that scenes were often used in places where there were not originally intended to be or used to create a different concept of a storyline altogether. Think Frodo's "junkie" obsession with the ring and PJ's choice to use Sam's reaction shot in The Tower of Cirith Ungol as his own ambivalence about relinquishing the ring as opposed to his horror at Frodo's "transformation" at the sight of it again. Or... the use of the "rewind" sweeping shot of Eowyn standing before the doors of The Golden Hall in ROTK as opposed to the forward version seen in TTT.
