Let's have some Fiesta Friday fun!

A combination of a reasonable growing season and getting better at eating seasonally (along with preserving the excess).

I'm not a great fan of pickled beets (too many [commercial] canned ones as a child), but roasted they're delicious. They freeze well, too--roasted from frozen is just as nice as from fresh.

I use macadamias in my home-made cereal (the idea is to get lots of different nuts and seeds in it. Mr Kimi also makes a delicious oven-baked fish with a crushed macadamia topping. Those are probably our main uses currently.

Finding those historical gems for my (non-fiction, so no making things up!) is so rewarding, and really feels as it it repays the effort.

Yes, the chicken satay had a delicious peanut sauce!

We grow a small number of raspberries, but they're only ever at the treat level for us - the climate's too marginal. But blueberries are scoffable, as are strawberries at their peak.

These macadamias have really come into their own this season. I look at expensive, tiny packets in the shops and feel awfully smug :) It's probably a good thing they take a while (and a really good nutcracker) to shell, or we'd eat them too quickly.

Well... I left the machete home this time ;) The house needs A LOT of work; but I'm only sticking to what is easily fixed. She'll have to hire out for electricians, roofers, and foundation repair. *sigh*

I truly am very careful; but I also keep in mind each year gets more sobering. So I approach everything with that reality... Sorta [;)]

For the holiday weekend AND for the upcoming outing. Cripes, that sounds like a really nice mini-trip seeing all those familiar places. I hope you have a great time!

I've rented a couple of cars over the past few years and my kids each have newer ones.... and they intimidate and frustrate the heck outta me! My Ford Escape is a 2010, and it really loves to get to where we're going. Never worry if I have to pass someone or get outta way! For you to go on a long outing with help you get to know each other and stop reaching for what used to be the wipers ;)

Have a great week and hopefully with more good weather :D

You KNEW there was something out there!!! You didn't give up and had a great SCORE! Well Done!! *applause* And you even got out of prison to make it happen ;)

Have a GREAT week!

It was such a horror when it happened! Has it been that long? Wow!

And awesome news on your trip! Talk about meant to be... if you hadn't called just now, p'raps that offer would not have been there and the lovely person who you connected with. Estonia sounds like a great addition :D

Have a GREAT week!!
