The Shire
Time to update this--the show debuts THIS Saturday, Nov. 1 and right now there's no decent fanatasy/romance/action on TV. Based on Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth books---this is Sam Raimi producing, but not as campy as his Xena & Herc. Cast has Bruce Spence, Jay Laga'aia and Craig Parker in support... and it's filmed in New Zealand.

Here's the thing--It is syndicated--and in US only for now; it has a full year commitment so hopefully it will be at least in Canada, elsewhere soon...

And in the US, you have to check the station locator at the main website, legendoftheseeker.com.--just put in your zip code. Also has clips, stills, interviews, etc.

Or Facebook: http://www.new.facebook.com/pages/Legend-of-the-Seeker/25088724403

If you want to give it a try, tell everybody and THEIR friends. Get it off to a good start--the site has previews, too--it looks good. No Tolkien, but not bad!

Why is it coming on (here) at 11pm on a Sunday? UGh..

I know, I know... UGH is right. But here's the "they": blame it on your local station.

It's syndicated, each station runs it when and where it wants. (For 7 years we watched ST:The Next Generation in Oklahoma City on teh NBC station at 10:30 PM *SUN*days ...and AFTER NFL football delays in the fall...!)

So--make LOTS a hit, then call and ask them to use a better time. What does your station run at 5 or 6 or 7 Saturdays or Sundays? Maybe the slot will open up.

Well, it was just to make the point of what is there now in those times--it may be a hit (or two). But write our own station and get others to do it, if it is a pain. Like always, letters have more weight than calls or emails! Be polite, but passionate.

Finally.

First: If you like the show... "Get Out The Viewer", er vote....!! We need a big sendoff!!

And then...really...
What did you all think?

I know some of the book purists on another forum are disappointed, but I thought the premiere came off great.

Anyone??

If I can get some ratings news I will try to post Monday.

Why, you ask? Because despite what the website said, this show was not aired on any local station for me. At first, I thought it was going to air on Saturday night, but found, no it wasn't. But the site said, it'll air on the local CW affiliate on Sunday night at 9. And then, I tune in, all excited, to find...

... a bloody rerun of MONK.

WTF? I want to write a letter... to someone.

For starters, call that station and ask what happened? Maybe it chnaged and had a different time that the LOTS site didn't update--or maybe the clueless local station never gave out the update info to the national TV promo people. That happens.

Now, I looked on the local CW affiliate's site again, and as of today, they say it'll be aired at 7pm on Saturday. Honestly, I don't think anyone actually knows when anything airs. TV Guide thinks that Star Trek was playing at 9pm last night, when I saw with my own eyes it was Monk.

And now, I searched on LotS on the TV Guide's site and it puts it on Wednesday on a whole other channel: WGN a cable channel out of Chicago! You can see where my frustration stems from!

Apparently, on what qualifies as my cable set up (analog, not digital) there are 2 stations that are part of the CW affiliation. And I was watching the "wrong" one before. It looks like we got it right now, and the affiliate is also going to run the pilot again early evening on Saturday, prior to ep2.
