it's Oct. 24, did you...

hi everyone,

well, once again October the 24th has rolled around. Does that date ring a bell?
I'm sure it does. This is the day that Frodo wakes up and finds himself lying in a
beautiful bed in Rivendell, with Gandalf by his side telling him that, it's Oct. the 24th,
and it's 10 o'clock in the morning
as a ritual type thing for the past, oh, 5 or 6 years or so, I've had the privledge of being
able to be home to set up my DVD to this exact moment, so that when Gandalf utters
those words, it actually is, Oct. 24, at 10 o'clock. I know it might seem silly to some, but i really
get a kick out of doing it. It takes me back, and makes me feel a part in it, i guess.

so i was wondering, do any of you do anything similar on a yearly basis?

We celebrate the birthday's each year with a feast.

Forgot my wedding anniversary last year but remembered Bilbo and Frodo's birthday!

I always remember Bilbo's birthday. This year I forgot my husband's birthday. But I've only known him for 32 years - Bilbo I've known a lot longer! (Well, not a whole lot but a lot)

But on/around Sept 22- Frodo's and Bilbo's bday, of course- I go down to Griffith Park to celebrate the birthday with fellow fans.

On Jan 3rd, Tolkien's bday, I toast him.

And I buy myself a sweet pastry type thing for Aragorn's b-day on March 1 :D

I have a ritual of watching LotR on Sept 22; watch The Bumblebee Flies Anyway on November 14; Independence Day and Live Free, Die Hard on July 4; etc. But I have to admit I'd not thought of October 24th waking of Frodo... although I do post a TIME on his behalf over on the Main discussion board.

What a great idea! I think next year, you'll have LOTS more company at that precise moment ;)

oh gramma i were my LOTR geek title very proudly, so thank you [;)].

that would be great to have LOTS of company cueing up the ol' dvd next
year on Oct. 24. please do!

THANKS, everybody for all your interesting reply's. there's some good idea's there.

i notice everyone does something for Bilbo and Frodo's b-day. i don't know why i
hadn't thought of it before, but i'm going to have to start watching all of the, 'long expected
party' scene's, every Sept.22 from now on. hopefully everyone will join us for that too gramma. [:)]
