Intrigued by the absence of a human Beorn in all the marketing thus far

I've heard reports that the production is very pleased with how Beorn turned out, but we've only seen a few brief shots of him giving chase in his bear form. I never could have imagined that we'd both see and hear Smaug before him!

I have to wonder if he might finally make an appearance in the tv spots...

My understanding is the next wave of action figures is scheduled to launch on October 15th, and Beorn is listed as one of those figures.

It's unfortunate if our first clear look at the character is the toy version, but that's just what we'll have to work with.

The stuff that is the coolest and what they might be most proud of is going to be the stuff we don't see until the actual movie.

Smaug is to big to be left out of the trailers, but they have not given up much

Let's hope indeed they're keeping him behind locks because he's so good and not because he's so bad! [:P]

Though we'll probably get a better look at Beorn before the movie comes out, it'd be great if he was a surprise to us all.

I can totally understand the marketing logic to revealing bits and pieces of Smaug. They have to do this to lure the general audience, so the will undoubtedly be more excited for the movie when they see those bits. Beorn is a smaller and more fan-oriented sort of character so there is no urgent need to reveal him. I'm sure as the marketing campaign rolls foward we will see more of him, in bear form at least, as it adds something new to Middle-Earth. But I'm avaiding all the marketing going forward as I want him revealed during the movie on 12-13-13!
