Interesting Theory

I've noticed, along with everyone else, that Gandalf's staff is considerably different in TH than it was in LOTR (talking Gandalf the Grey here). Then I got to looking at our first image of Radagast (the one from the calendar, not the new pic). The staff he has looks oddly similar to Gandalf's from FOTR.

If, and that's a big IF, Radagast dies before this new trilogy ends, and Gandalf's staff suffers some horrible disrepair... could it be possible that Gandalf takes Radagast's staff post-mortem?

I'm sure Gandalf went through many staffs.

However, which staff are you talking about? He uses two different staffs in FOTR.

He lost his first staff after his battle with Saruman. He has a slightly different staff through the rest of the movie.

And I have suggested the same in the past. Though, there has also been the suggestion that Gandalf's staff is somewhat living, gradually opening up to it's FOTR appearance.

It'd be similar to Aragorn keeping and wearing Boromir's... what are they? The things that he wears on his arms to shield them? Anyway Aragorn took them from Boromir when he died and wore them the rest of the trilogy. Very nice thought of Viggo.
