Inside the sets

They absolutely won't allow visitors into the studio when filming is in progress. When movies are filming on location, they sometimes allow the public to watch beyond some cordon (so they don't inadvertently wander where they shouldn't), but I think Jackson tends to be more secretive than that.
 
Maybe if you brought your own sandwiches and sat in the furtherest corner and didn't talk to anyone. And also sign confideniality agreement. And also put a sack over your head and cable tied your hands to your feet and were happy to have a full body search done everyday.
 
Random fans like you and me? Absolutely not. Big name fans like Harry Knowles with AICN or TORn's staffers? Perhaps. Someone might be able to get a job with the production (cast extra, caterer, whatever) and get a glimpse that way.

Though, am I misremembering or did someone mention the possibility of a contest to bring a fan on set, like 5 years ago? I'm sure the chances of winning would be teeny tiny with all the fans who would enter!
 
who was allowed on set with her little kid near the end of shooting, when she had been waiting around outside the cordon for hours and PJ said "Yeah, sure, come back later and you can watch". It was for the scene where Aragorn was found on the riverbank in TTT.

There was debate on the discussion boards about whether her story was real or not. I voted for real.

I would have tried getting a spy look when they shoot in Hobbiton, by simply walking there from the nearest town (since they are closing the whole thing for filming) Sure it's a big project and many hours of walking but it can be done.
 
Sir Edmund Hillary visited the set. I think you'd most likely have to be a pretty big name, have really good connections, or be very, very, very, very, very lucky. My guess is that some who worked on LotR but aren't involved in The Hobbit may have more of a chance to visit than others would.
 
know too much, only trailers, videos and whatever else lol , I'd love to abstain for 2 years and let it hit me but I know that wont happen!
