to get a Figwit cameo in The Hobbit. Just in the background at Rivendell or something - Bret can film it during a trip home even if the Conchords continue to be stupidly famous.
Now that he's famous, he could even have a role. I think he should be a Mirkwood elf. For all we know, he could be the same elf that appeared at Rivendell 60 years later.
One joke amoung some fans is that he's Legolas' forgotten younger brother... I can totally see him in Mirkwood, or Rivendell. I don't care, I want more Figwit!!
which went on to become a minor pop-culture icon within LOTR fandom and mainstream media - helped by Figwit (Bret Mackenzie) being one half of Flight of the Conchords: http://www.figwitlives.net/faq.htm
Because of the coverage given to Figwit, PJ brought him back for a small speaking cameo in ROTK - he's the one who tells Arwen, after she's seen Eldarion in a vision, that they must not delay.
Vic James of Red Carpet Tours actually explained the Figwit phenomenon to our tour group! So the word has gotten around. (Although Vic does visit TORn regularly.) He didn't know the derivation of the name -- Frodo is Great, Who is That -- so I was able to fill him in on that.
