The off topic board has some lovely book and movie reviews this week. Or perhaps you'd like to take a brisk walk and help TORn collectively log enough miles to get to the Lonely Mountain by next December (Walk to Rivendell threads on main). The fan art section looks a little lonely if you have some talent lying in wait.

Personally, I'm glad PJ and the gang have their heads where they belong: on the movie, rather than spending their hard-earned rest time keeping us up to date with what all the cast members had for breakfast.
 
But they're busy filming on a very tight schedule, so we have to cut them some slack. Especially PJ.

Updates will come when they come.
 
I'm still skeptical about the December 2012 date for the first film, mostly because they may not finish principal photography before May or June. Then they have to do pick-ups, edit the picture (in between filming blocks, and after principal photography), and finish all the visual fx (including CGI, miniatures, modeling, etc.), the sound mixing, the score, etc. If it means a quality product, I would rather them postpone until Summer 2013, rather than release a rushed, wobbly film. Plenty of time for film two at least.

The Empie Magazine news on the main page promises "new pictures". Anyone know if this means previously unpublished LotR pictures or The Hobbit pictures? Either is good news, though!
 
I just checked PJ's message about comic con on facebook and he promised to have a few more of the questions answered very soon and that was back on july 21, he must've had atleast some spare time in these last two months to answer them. Maybe PJ just isn't the cool guy I thought he was...
I'm jk, I can't wait for the 4th video diary, that 3rd one was better than anything I could've expected so hopefully the next one will be even better.
 
Start reading a novel.
Start watching a new TV series. Preferably something already on DVD, so you can watch the whole season at once.
Learn Quenya or Sindar.
If you already speak them, learn some living language.
Or even better, learn Latin.
Choose some field of science and learn everything you can of it.
Choose some country, culture or historic period and learn everything you can of it.
Begin a huge drawing of Dol Guldur.
Or even better, make a cosplay costume to wear in the premier night.

Yes, we're all impatiently waiting for news. However, please do remember we've already got much more than most fans get. And we know we're in for more. Just find something else to do while waiting. [:)]
 
PJ only wanted to take over as director if they could lock the december 2012 date. And now it is "locked" - to the degree that the Superman sequel which was going to clash with The Hobbit at the box office in december next year was moved to summer 2013 just to let both movies get some space, and The Hobbit was considered stronger.
 
A spurt to get it all started, but careful to not give too much...really want the excitement to build as a run up to release of "Thing One".
 
Be happy in the knowledge that they are hard at work making it a reality. When PJ gets a chance he'll keep us all in the loop as much as is possible. Does anybody know when block two ends? That will probably be when we will find out more info.

I was really disappointed not to have another video blog on the 22nd. But I know there's a good reason why--they are making a movie! I think I'll re-watch Born of Hope or Hunt for Gollum while we wait for another tidbit.[laugh]
 
I was delighted when I saw your suggestion to learn Quenya or Sindar. I was feeling bored the other day, and started looking into what I would have to do to learn Quenya. Seriously, if I took that up, I don't think I would be bored for a very, very long time! :)

I wonder how many people there are on the boards who've learned one or the other?
 
...I personally love translating names into Quenya and Sindarin. I've done nearly all my family and friends. It's so fun, interesting and rewarding.
 
But seriously I still dont really have a grip on what they're actually supposed to be shooting right now.....can anyone fill me in here??

I just hope that they will at least quietly fix it for the next release, and allow you to buy each movie separately. I don't want to pay for the TTT and ROTK release again, but I would be willing to pay again to get this fixed. I know--I'm a chump.

But really, I would think that stunt would be hilarious! There would still be naysayers, saying there was no green tint.[sly]
 
i made a thread intended to be half funny bout the info drought and im welcomed to insults chill i was just being a bit dramatic/humorous its notl ike im surfing for news 24 hours a day
