The report starts out by saying, "Over at Elendilion.com, the folks of Gwaith-i-Phethdain, (which means The Fellowship of the Word-smiths) have been doing some linguistic research based on the latest close-up pictures of Dwalin's axes and Thorin Oakenshield's Orcrist."

My browser lets me highlight a url like Elendilion.com and - with a right click - just go to it.. even if it's not a clickable link. But that didn't work. I tried putting a www in front of it and it still didn't work. So I sought out a clickable link in the story and found one three quarters of the way down.

The url is actually: http://www.elendilion.pl/

So the first sentence attaching a dot com on the name isn't correct.

I would suggest we either link to the site in that sentence (the later link goes to the article) or just call the site Elendilion or say Elendilion.pl
 
I've changed the .com to .pl, and on testing it appears to work.

They did phenomenal work on the languages in the LOTR movies, and his work on the lyrics were an inspiration for my work. His is one of a handful of site (including TORn!) that I was addicted to - visiting and referencing often - as well as linking people to often.

It looks like they are not updating the old site with Hobbit info. Or perhaps it just isn't being done yet. I hope they consolidate the info they develop into a more accessible site than the blog structure. Blog structures are easy for users and I totally get why people use them. But they are not good as basic reference sites. His old site was old school in terms of web design. But I guess it's more in line with how my brain works when I want to find a bit of info.

And yes, he said he doesn't have plans to update the old G-i-P website (as yet), and he'll be making all his posts over at this new location.
 
He and I have corresponded and he linked to my site very early in its history.

I don't know that I can call us 'good friends'.

But I have a lot of respect for his work.

I wasn't even aware of this new site until this post crept up here. I would suggest he put some links on the old site to the new one. (I actually checked the old site a few times in the last month. I still reference it)

I thought he'd just moved on from Tolkien to other things.
 
By the way, I think I even may have found your site from his, I'm not too sure, it was so long ago, though I do recall being supremely overwhelmed by both your sites [blush]

And yes, I don't like the blog format either, I somehow prefer sites made the way they were in the good old days.
 
It's so nice to meet you, Magpie. Earl, thank you for the encouragement and your friendship. Saying the truth I should make some changes on my old G-i-P website, but now everything is published on the site Earl was writing about: G-i-P Reports.
