I Wish: Someone Would Make a Movie of the McKellan/McCoy King Lear

While I don't think Peter visits this site, it would be such a great thing for a fine producer like Peter to film this version of King Lear. Reviewers have been raving about it, and the vast majority of us will not have the chance to see it. It's completely sold out in America. There are rumors of a ticket on eBay for $2,900!!

the Charlie Rose interview with Ian McKellen? (It's linked on the TORn Home Page.) At the very end, Sir Ian says that there will be a film made of his Lear. "There will be a DVD." Perhaps not the major movie you're imagining - but then a major movie would no longer be the same production.

It's a nice interview, by the way - well worth a listen.

If there is a DVD just of the stage play, that would be great!!

I have a DVD of the Ian McKellen/Judi Dench/Roger Rees/Ian McDairmid MacBeth from the '70s. Absolutely brilliant version of MacBeth, even if it's "just" the stage play. The performers matter much more than the trappings!

might also be available from Netflix, too.

I checked on Amazon after I posted (I'm in Ireland, so I have to buy from Amazon.co.uk) and found both that and a very interesting-sounding Othello with Ian McKellen as Iago. They are going to be in my next order!
