Also, these are different movies about a different story. I don't want to think "Fellowship of the Ring!" when the movie starts.

The beginning of Phantom Menace also brought back some nostalgia for me, which was quickly crushed to death by Jar Jar Binks. [:)]
 
and allow me to say, it's an incredible, unbelievably beautiful, outstandingly tears provoking, opening track.

I see people joke/groan about a possible Kili / Tauriel tryst a lot.

Can someone please disprove this rumor for me?

Is that just because Kili is hot for no reason and Tauriel is a made up character? Please tell me that this is just fanboy hatred. PLEASE tell me this isn't an actual confirmed thing.

Is there any confirmation of this rumor from Phillipa / the actors / Comic*Con footage?

Because while I for one liked the fleshed-out romance of the LotR movies, and (in theory) I don't mind a lot of the additions PJ and co. are making to the Hobbit, but this would just be awful.
 
He said that Kili was amazed by Tauriels grace or something... Something in the same vein as Gimli towards Galadriel...

By that, everyone thought there was a romance going on!

Thank God this is tongue-n-cheek.

I was a big fan of Gimili's affection for Galadriel, and thought it was handled very well in the films (namely the scene in the boat where he says "I asked for one hair from her golden head...she gave me three"). If I remember correctly it was actually played down in the films (no Gimli - Eomer bickering).

If we get one or two scenes of him swooning in DOS I guess it won't be too bad. Charming/silly at best, teenage-girl crowd pleasing at worst. It will work much better if she doesn't return the sentiment, they can play up his "youth" as portray him as a gawky teenager. Maybe he plants a kiss when/if she helps them escape.

As long as it's not a straight up romance, I'll be able to stomach it ;)
