from iTunes. Two days ago several major new scenes were already uploaded to youtube. Perhaps WarnerBros PR discovered this and in a last minute effort of damage control, decided to postpone release of the digital version until Nov. 5th because they were worried all the new scenes would inevitably show up on youtube in droves and this would negatively impact sales of the November 5th release. Thoughts?
 
and I'm sure if they don't release it again the movie-pirate-sites will become very popular in the next days... [mad]
 
It was an idiotic move on Warner Bros' part; they must have known the scenes would be uploaded and sales impacted as a result.
 
But if they did that, why didn't they issue any kind of press release about it?

They're going to go out of business if they keep screwing customers like this [mad]

And I have never used that smiley icon before, so that should tell you how pissed off it makes me!
 
should keep eagle eyes out for the first snippet of news about this, then post it to the front page....[unimpressed]

the only thing worse than it not being available right now is that none of us know WHY it isn't available.....[crazy]

WB better have a darn good explanation for this hiccup....

technical difficulties I can live with. Pulling it without any notice or explanation out of the blue is another.....[mad]
 
I planned on buying the digital download and the DVDS. I am one of those who want a hard copy on hand and I have all the EE LOTR so I of course want The Hobbit too.
Now that I can't legally buy the digital download on the day ITunes and WB said it would be available I am now looking at the EE online. It's out there...easy to find!
So now I may just say the hell with it...wait for the DVDs to come out...so they have lost the digital $ from me!
I have found that people are either going to buy the digital, the DVDs, or both. Release dates hardly affect purchase. Everyone has their own personal preference. By releasing the digital early they get $ from impatient people like me who are willing to buy both. I don't know of any fan who doesn't own some form/ copy of the movie.
 
If we still have not received an announcement, then they are just keeping a low profile about it out of some misplaced sense of pride and hope people will just forget about this 'blooper' and happily begin downloading on November 5th. On the bright side, that's only two weeks away!! [;)]
 
recently - like a character design? So they don't want it showing up in the behind-the-scenes extras? That might explain some of the DOS book releases being pushed back as well.

The EE AUJ movie could still be shown on airplanes, because they don't show the extras, right?
 
yep, I was so stoked over it I caved and WAS going to buy both, what the *bleep*. Of course I'd rather have the Blu Ray anyway, but could see where a digital copy would be useful. Sure, stuff would show up online - but very rarely have I seen quality like the original, and WB and other movie companies seem to crack down on stuff fast enough, until things have been out a while.

Now I'm mad and I will wait - maybe sometime I'll get a digital copy but not until the price drops way down.
 
Everyone be sure to scan page one of a board before you start a thread to make sure it's not already being discussed. Starting a new thread pushes someone else's thread to page two where it might not get as much discussion. Posting in an existing thread avoids this.
