How to jump start a Jumbo, Aussie style

Or maybe I should say "Brisbane style"[;)]

Real photo taken on Saturday at the Brisbane International Airport during the storms this weekend. Was very glad to hear my Queensland friends are all ok, they were some very scary storms!

*Personally think it's the Aussie Gods venting their displeasure at the *very* late release of The Hobbit over here* [evil][laugh]

I'd be very nervous about getting on board after that one. They reckon it took off not long afterwards, either very brave or very stupid [laugh][evil][angelic]

What luck not to have been on it!

According to AirNZ the lightning actually hit the ground behind the plane, but it's still an amazing shot! [;)]

For what it's worth, the weather channel reported that there were over 2000 lightning strikes during the storms and the airport got hit several times [shocked]

We've been in and out of Brisbane more than once, but fortunately it was always a lovely sunny day. I wouldn't want to go ANYWHERE, not even Down Under, in weather like that. [unimpressed]

Planes are actually designed for just this event.

My mom & dad were on a plane that was just taking off from the Denver airport in a storm when it was struck with lightning. They said there was an enormous bang and they grabbed each other - Dad said he thought "well, the kids are old enough that they'll be okay" - and then they heard the engines go to maximum thrust, but the plane got up into the air just fine. After a bit the captain came on the intercom and said "well, folks, we were hit by lightning, but everything is okay. Oh, and the drinks on this flight are free."
