How exactly would Sauron rule Middle-Earth with the One Ring?

So let's say the elves didn't notice Saurons true intention when he put on the One Ring in Mt.Doom. What would happen?

Under a few years he would whisper to all the Leaders of the Elves (3), Dwarves (7) and Humans (9) and influencing them and corrupting them to wanna worship Sauron as a God? Wouldn't the people under the leaders rise up against their leaders saying that Sauron is pure good and kindness?

Or would Sauron CONTROL (like in mind control) ALL of the creatures in Middle-Earth?


Is there a definite answer on what would happen if they still had wore the Rings Sauron helped made with them? And of course the Dwarves not being immune to it's corruption.


EDIT: And what would happen if Sauron got the Ring during the Third Age when Frodo was heading to Mt.Doom? How would he be unstoppable/invincible? You would still be able to cut the ring off with Anduril (only weapon that could harm Sauron?) and sent Sauron back into spirit form?

Gandalf said Sauron needs the ring to cover all the lands in a second darkness. It sounds cool but i don't really know what it would do EXACTLY. Make dark clouds all over Middle-Earth, making it look horrible, maybe?

I have come to the mundane conclusion that he merely influences the will of some others who do the work for him. That is explicitly why armies of orcs and other evil creatures are still necessary; he can't manage it alone. At its most fundamental, Sauron influences the will of the wearers of the subordinate rings, turning them to the dark side, as it were. After that, the leaders drive their own people into the darkness.

The more magical conclusion is that Sauron can use the ring itself to control others even without them wearing the subordinate rings, but then why do we need those other rings?

Without the author actually spelling out the mechanics by keeping language vague and aloof, you can only see it as "because the author says so."

bored. Afterall, you have a world destroyed and covered in darkness, orcs, trolls, enslaved humans etc. What is the point? To cast a mocking finger to Eru? Ok, then what? Sauron certainly does not want Melkor back, he is king now. In the end, I think he tires of breaking things and after twisting lifeforms into terrible versions he finds a good gal and marries her. They move to some island exempt from his destruction and he builds her a fantasy tower. He leaves some minions in control of mayhem on the mainland and then breeds a new race to take it all back. Eventually, the boredom is complete and Eru wipes the slate clean.

a good point you have there. But do you think the people would not question their leaders change of heart going from destroying Sauron to worship him? Wouldn't there be riots, uprisings etc etc.
 
1. If Sauron won - what then? Sit in darkness all day?
2. Sauron like control thinking today.
3. Had the ring not been destroyed the allies faced defeat.

He would have his full power as a Maia and would rule over all beings in dark divine power.
Elves would hasten their leaving.
Men would have been decimated.
Dwarves hunted in their halls.

I always thought of it as if you were in his prescence that he could easily control you or at least sway your judgement unless you were very strong willed.

With the rings and the palantiri he would have conduits into the minds and hearts of the leaders, who would then expand his rule.

Shagrat and Gorbag appear to have some control of their own wills, at least enough to contemplate rebellion (or at least escape), though they acknowledge that it would be short-lived if HE caught them.
 
sauron would corrupt all the other ringbearers thru use of the one ring. There would most likely be rebellions in the kingdoms of good. And of course the elves would be corrupted and the dwarves might even become wraiths, and be corrupted as well. He would of course be ya full power and able to amass darkness and well"power" to take over the world, of course using his bigger than ever armies.
