Fiction dearest your geeky heart

Dr. Who, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Monty Python... I collected X-Men comics for several years, and some others. I also love Pratchett's Discworld books. I'm sure there are others, but I just can't list everything.

I just realized I forgot to check Star Wars.

*sigh* I'm such a geek. What can I say, I like the creativity behind sci-fi and fantasy. You can bend so many more rules with those two genres than you can in other areas of fiction.
 
but "dearest your (my) geeky heart" would be Star Trek, Star Wars, Hitchhiker's Guide and Monty Python, in no particular order.

but i love harry potter and star wars too.
(that biggest opening harry potters been bragging about on their tv ads i was a part of that thank you)
 
I don't really read modern fantasy or scifi that much. I much prefer historic novels, war stories and Westerns, and consume old classics. Now bring me Tolstoy, Arthur Conan Doyle, Bram Stoker, Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters, Jules Verne... But I guess those aren't geeky enough. Let's say closest to my geeky heart (apart from Tolkien) is Japanese manga.

Oh! I forgot Narnia! Yes, I love C.S.Lewis. That's my final answer. :)
 
After LOTR, The Space Trilogy by Lewis is probably my favorite series, followed by the Chronicles of Narnia.

I also love Norse, Irish, and Germanic mythology, in this I'm only a tiny bit influenced by Lewis and Tolkien [:P]

I'd include Logan's Run (love that novel), the original Planet of the Apes, and so much more.

I think Apes was the first fantastic concept I felt in love with, until I saw Christopher Lee as the Duc de Richleau. I so wanted/believed in that character, I wanted the Duc to become my real life dad.

So I'd say the fantastical good vs. evil hook is a huge pull for me.

I hope to be exposed to a lot more here and in my literature courses at uni.

There's geekdom everywhere! You're just more of a literary geek, which is also awesome. I love the Brontes and Jules Verne too, as well as manga and anime.
 
I love the universe Mike Mignola has created at Dark Horse Comics. Spooky investigating and fighting against monsters, ghosts, apocalypse bringers, etc. All done with an artistic sophistication drenched in black, and storylines rooted in macabre fairytales of old. I believe Mike Mignola deserves a seat at the dinner table with other great masters of horror like Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft. BTW... Mr. Mignola couldn't have been a nicer guy when I met him at the comic-con a few days ago.

I also voted for DC ( 1st ) and Marvel comics ( 2nd )

I've been reading comics from both companies since I was a wee lad, and some of my favorite titles are : JSA, Batman, Detective, Superman, Action Comics, The Flash, Green Lantern, Teen Titans, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and Ultimate Spiderman.
 
about the austen, bronte, and verne part! never done the manga/anime thing, not really my style. But I love literature! *homeschool geekiness begins to shine through* Bring on the Dickens and Twain and Francis Hodgesen Burnett!!!!!

but I didn't think Narnia was considered geeky, I know lots of geeks like it. And I don't see why it shouldn't be geeky. I suppose it is though, going to fictional land

Personally I couldn't finish the space trilogy, there were way to many descriptions in there, it was just too much for me. Maybe in the future I'll feel otherwise....
 
Apart from (and definitely AFTER) LOTR it would be Harry Potter (the books! the movies were rubbish) and Doctor Who for me.
