Thanks for grouping these together..There were a couple I had not seen yet.

Still cant believe there is no bootleg of the 12.5 minutes! [crazy]

but if I remember correctly someone said ( don't remember where or whom said it) that they will start working on Smaug next year, so I wonder what "glimpses" we will see exactly.

Or however they handle showing the backstory of why the dwarves are even going to the Lonely Mountain.

They don't need to show Smaug in all his glory. Just a glimpse of a claw or a wing or a flash of flame would be sufficient to show his attack.

Ya think???

They can do before finishing him completely.

A silhouette, eyes, a blur of flame, etc...

After all, Gollum also featured in FOTR without having been fully designed yet...

I don't want to see anything of Smaug until I am sitting plop in front of the screen at the theater, but there's no way I can not watch the next trailer! [shocked][crazy]

If anyone here has seen the animated Hobbit from 1977, you may remember how they did the backstory of Smaug and Dwarves without showing smaug in all his glory.

For those who haven't, or don't remember, there were several ways they did this - One time was Smaug's shadow against the Long Lake, another was him descending upon the land but the fire from his breath covered up any physical appearance. There was one QUICK shot where you could see him fully but it was from the back and sort of in the distance. They did another one with his shadow against the Lonely Mountain as well.

I think this sort of thing is a neat way of teasing the audience just enough without showing him or hearing him.

Thanks Namarie! Now I'll have to update my page again (missing tons)!

Please Hobbit news, slow down before I break my keyboard!
