Early Showings?

Hey all! Long-time lurker, but I recently had the proper instigation to register myself because I have an important question!

So I found out today that my friend's college (in the US) is offering an advance screening of DOS on December 10 at a nearby movie theater. I didn't really believe it at first, but it looks legitimate. I was wondering if anyone knows of any other early showings such as this or can comment on the legitimacy of it. Were there any for AUJ last year?

I'm a huge Tolkien fan, and this honestly really bothers me because it's just not fair that I can't see it two days early [:P]
 
Pretty new myself - anyway, don't know - probably someone will comment. But looks like U.S. is a day or two behind some other
countries anyway - personally hoping my area would have some kind of special early showing, even if I have to pay extra.
Or maybe that's not true, I haven't looked at the time differences yet!
 
The movie is set to open on December 13, but one of the new theaters that just opened is doing special premiere nights the day before so I'll likely be able to see it on the 12th. Lucky me!
 
Is the traditional beginning of the summer holidays; and cinemas start it out with the biggest block buster movies they can think of, then release another blockbuster or two every week through January. Boxing Day is the day for BIG movies. As everybody is hung over from Xmas or sick of shopping the Boxing day specials, they either go to the cricket (Boxing Day Test match if in Melbourne - this year against the poms, even better) or the movies. The Kiwis are earlier as that is where the movie is made and they would riot if it was later.
 
The Netherlands get to see it the 11th already.

I still can't believe I received the invitation yesterday to go to the press screening in Amsterdam IMAX on december 5th!!!

I'm incredibly happy and affraid at the same time. The review has to be done on the same day for my editor. Will I be able to bring some nuance to the review when you just saw it?
 
coz my friends voted for Friday night but I can't wait, already waited a year. (What do you mean, you have to work???[;)])
That's fandom....now to get some energy drinks, I'm going Friday night too.
