*Dramatically Opens Doors* Welcome to FIESTA FRIDAY!!!

Happy Fiesta Friday Everyone!

I will be your server today and come armed to cure whatever thirst you have! We're coming up on the Winter Solstice as well as the last mad-dash for holiday preparations, so you're really going to need a boost before facing the onslaught.

I hope the storms that are crossing the US haven't impacted any of you worse than some shovel work or yard cleaning. So far in my neck of the Mitten (lower Michigan Peninsula) we missed the really bad snows, but we did have a mighty wind storm on Wednesday night followed by freezing rain in the morning. More is threatened for this weekend; but I'm ready for it!

So how are you preparing for all that's going on this weekend? For me… I'm looking forward to the daylight getting longer :D Do tell on what you've been up to and what your have coming up while you lift a glass or mug of your favourite. I've also got some chilled eggnog in the fridge ;)

.........................................................................Deck your Doggie with BowWows of whatever! ;)

Take care... and have a great weekend! *snaps tea towel*

I'll take a small mug of that, please, gramma, with a dash of nutmeg on top! What in the world is that middle picture, is that Santa over-eating a fruitcake? How will he ever finish his deliveries? [shocked]

I'm glad the snow has missed you so far, and hope the wind does not do damage to your trees! That tree in your pic looks like it's safe - complete with a guard-doggie! [laugh] It's all rain here, which has washed away what little snow we got earlier this week.

I have a bit of cleaning-up and some last-minute things to do this weekend, and Sunday our area's community orchestra is giving a concert, which will be a nice way to relax before the final rush. Bring on the solstice, it's way too dark when I drive to work in the mornings!

*gives guard-Pickle some ear scritchies*

Ohhhhhh.... you got the boy being very happy! :D

I love Christmas Concerts! I hope the weather hold up for you. Yeah... that pic has Santa wiped out from too much jolly cake eating! ;)

I hope you have a wonderful Concert and weekend! :D

I love it the way the back leg starts up when you find the right scritching spot! If you very gently scruffle Morris's long hair in his ears he loves it, but can only stand so much before he has to have a shake. Still freezing here, with very treacherous roads locally this morning. However, by Monday temperatures in double figures are promised for many places as a plume of warm air is drawn up from the south! At least that'll get rid of the ice and people will feel safer going out and about. I'm ready to wrap my Christmas gifts now, apart from needing to embroider labels to go on the boys' blankets. It's all pretty low-key for me; the family will come for a buffet tea sometime between Christmas and New Year, and I go to them on Christmas day; that's pretty much it, really. I'm looking after Morris when they go out to friends on new Year's Eve; there will no doubt be fireworks, so he needs company. Have a good weekend, everyone, and don't eat too many festive cookies! We need to pace ourselves...[;)]

Now those plans sound just right :D Those boys are gonna LOVE their blankets! I made one for my eldest a few years ago. She 52yo now, and just LOVES THOR, lightning, tornadoes, and aggressive weather! So I made her a Thor blanket with lightning and storm clouds as the fleece backing.

I'm glad the weather will be calming things down for you and everyone trying to get around during what's gotta be a busy weekend!!!

Stay warm m'dear... and I'll scritch Pickles other ear and see if that back foot gets going!!! I'm glad it doesn't make him tinkle instead :D

The mother of my oldest friend died this week and her funeral was held yesterday. I'm useless at funerals - doesn't matter whether I know the person or not, I'm always a wet-eyed mess; but this lady had been part of my childhood so it was all a bit sad. And the weather was rubbish: misty, rainy and humid as heck, until the interment when it was sudden blue skies above us. That was a touching end.

We had our team Christmas drinks and nibbles yesterday evening. It was all going well, with drinks in the outdoor area, until we were moved inside for the nibbles and I realised that instead of being in the side-room by ourselves (where we've been before) we were put in the main room with every other man and his dog - at a time when Covid numbers are growing. If I'd known about that beforehand, I wouldn't have turned up. So I'm crossing my fingers that I stay healthy in the lead-up to Christmas.

Actually, better make that two beers, gramma. And thank god it's the weekend.

Happy end of the week, everyone!

I am so sorry. Friendships like that really are family. Had she been ill? Even when there's an illness or threat, you're never prepared. Peace for you, you friend and everyone her mother touched.

And then the exposure at work! Covid isn't done... and we have a couple of other viruses running in the mix, so I'm definitely wearing my mask and avoiding crowds. Wow... it's a good time to stay home. *another hug* Hang in there. Get some Ice Cream to wash down the beer ;)

You've gotta have a chaser with that toast ;)

Are you going to have a quiet break, then? I hope so!!! And I hope you're feeling better.

Have a WONDERFUL WEEKEND!!!! *high five and still smiling*

They look so delicious I can't resist. Afraid I'm not one for eggnog but I'll take a pint of cider to wash down the cookies!

My university's finals week ends today. The library as well as the university offices are open next Monday and Tuesday, and then we'll be closed for nearly a fortnight for the holiday break, huzzah! Plenty of time for some R&R, which we all need these days.

The weather here isn't supposed to get all that cold for another week--on solstice, however, they're predicting lows in the teens. Brrr.

Happy Friday to everyone!

I'll bet it was a crazy week! Nowhere to park for about 4 days... then the place empties out! I used to work at a university library (database maintenance/Authority control), and that long break between Christmas and New Year was delicious! I hope you have plans for some peace and quiet at least for a few of those days :)

Have a GREAT TIME! :D

for your friend to lose her mother - so close to Christmas, too. Also, crowded areas are not where you want to be at the moment; if it's not covid, it's flu at this time of year. Fingers crossed that you've dodged the bugs!

and if we're talking about the Chris Hemsworth version, I can see exactly where she's coming from! [;)] I have a small Thor's hammer pendant which I wear sometimes.

Kept in the 'fridge, because of the egg yolk in it.

I wonder how a bit of it would taste, in scrambled eggs?

It's as if the scratching "hits the right nerve".

Are the roads plowed, or sanded, or salted in your area, to give some traction to the ice? Glad to know you won't have the icy roads much longer.

I have a few more gifts to wrap, also, for hubby and son; my far-away family have reported that they've all received their boxes. Personalizing the boys' blankets! Those must feel oh so warm, they're going to love them.

Holiday cookies? Now who would be making those? (She says, catching a crumb of a gingersnap falling from her mouth...)
